Economy Employee Rage quits McDonald's over Pay and Headlines National News

The whole COVID thing made people feel more entitled than they already were. The inevitable wake up call is gonna be UGLY.

Yeah I don’t get it personally.

I thought it would have been a wake up call to a lot of people that they need to get their shit together. Be a more prepared for shit to go sideways, etc. Be less trusting of the govt.

Instead it seems like the exact opposite.

17 at Menards and 2 or 3 an hour extra on the weekend, it was on fliers everywhere when I went t last week

But If you’re a solid employee at a Menards/Home Depot type place you’re a shit ton more valuable than someone make fast food. Imo

Person should be sued for lost revenues due to their sign. Everyone has to 'make a statement'. Why not just gracefully resign, and go find a job that better meets your needs?

Oh, you only have the skills that qualify you for a McDonald's job? Oops.

Sue him for what?

Democrats will allow illegals to work there to replace US citizens and they'll be happy to do it.

Fast food is one of the most miserable jobs on the planet.
What about miners who inhale toxic fumes in darkness and 140 degree conditions, constantly fearing for cave-ins?
What about sea fisherman who routinely die from falling overboard or hitting their head on something on a big wave?
What about loggers who also routinely die from getting hit in the head by falling trees and branches?
What about the guys who have to unclog fatbergs from sewers, literally travelling through feces and god knows what else to unclog... feces and god knows what else?
What about the people in other countries who routinely log 12+ hour days in construction, manufacturing, etc.

And there's plenty of other disgusting and/or dangerous jobs that many people have to do that pay about as much as these kids flipping burgers make.

It's not the 'one of the most miserable jobs on the planet'. Saying something that ignorant (a sentiment which many people seem to share) just shows how little perspective most people have when it comes to the real world.

Very unprofessional but what do you expect from teenagers. Just quit if you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to work there.

Probably can't use them as a reference down the track.

Meh not much rage tbh. If you raging and the opportunity to stick it to the man presents itself you must come up with something better than just "I hate my job"... Should have added "and the night shift guy sticks his fingers up his ass before he assembles your burger badadadada"

Where are these illegals ? Almost every fast food place near me is shut down at like 7 clock and it's next to impossible to get anything to eat at all in this town after 9 but taco bell. They sure as hell aren't here.

I was a manager at Burger King through my last two years of high school and my first two of college.

There's no doubt that working in fast food is a frantic and unappreciated line of work but to say that the pay isn't worth it, demonstrates how pampered someone is. I was getting paid $6.00 an hour, no overtime, no bonus, doing closing shifts and sometimes taking mid day ones to help pick up the slack.

Ultimately you have to do whatever you can do for money, and if loving what you do is some sort of prerequisite to doing that then I have to say you're pretty fucking fortunate to have gone so far in life while still thinking that's standard fare.

And if you're getting $15.00/hour shut the fuck up, pray that nobody else starts cashing in too and put more fries in

Also if anyone wants some hilarious BK stories let me know

You also getting underpaid and working like a slave doesn't justify the system.
For the amount of money these corporations make, and what it costs to live, people should at least get a fair wage.
There's no justifying a mega successful corporation requiring so much and giving so little in return.
Not sure why conversations about fair wages/rent/affordable housing or education often turn into competitions of how much shit one can endure.

i doubt it. no professionalism or work ethic. he wont go far in life

Professionalism and work ethic are just fake things people tell you about when your a kid

I worked a lot of jobs, in the oil field, in meat lockers, in assembly lines full of saw dust, and food service was equally awful

it sounds like you’re romanticizing “hard work and grit” and pumping it up as the real meaningful work of real Americans.

I don’t by it. I came from the oil field. Those people act like their the only ones who matter or who have hard jobs.

They are not. Most people in the country are undervalued for the jobs they do, teachers, service industry, manual labor, etc.

but saying fast food is a miserable job is spot on

Good. As expected, many defending the multibillionaire corporation because apparently some jobs should just suck and pay shit because... well, that's just the way it should be. I'm sure some of these same people are critical of people like Bozos and Gates. Delicious.

His minimum wage

I don't think people understand nobody is forcing them to work at a fast food place. Go find a different job if you can. I just would temper expectations on pay if you are at the work experience level of fast food.

This isn't supposed to be a career, it's something to start and get work experience which leads to the next thing or helps support you while you train for the next thing.

Why is this? And when and who decided this?
You can make a career out of anything that people are willing to pay you for.

There's a difference between expecting to be rich vs expecting a livable wage after spending 40+ hours working for a multi-billion dollar company.
Why is it accepted that profitable businesses shouldn't have to pay their employees a fair wage just because the job doesn't require a degree or specialized skill, or it isn't considered a respectable job to society at large?
