Karate in the Olympics?

shouldn't have been getting his ass kicked to be in such a submissive position. It'll be short lived. Yan isn't coming to play point karate with him.
Ok, now I think that it makes sense, you are talking about Aljo and I'm talking about the karate guy, Aljo could have been faking or not, nobody knows, the karate guy no, that is the whole point why the situations are completely different.

Can someone please explaine to me the rules and why he won?

Idiots destroyed the sport in the Olympics with this.
Technically you are supposed to show control in the strikes to not get a KO and only semi contact but is very dumb.
Imagine the 'winner' displaying his medal getting ktfo.
You won't see karate again at Olympics.

yeah, this ruleset is meant for sparring but they should be going full kyokushin at the least if not basically k-1 rules.

lol. yeah man. Sry lack of clarity. Was just clowning Sterling for the way it played out.

only stupid people think yan is the real champ and are salty that aljo won. what was he supposed to do? pass on the BELT and money he'd been working so hard for AFTER copping an illegal strike? only delusional people think that. utterly stupid.

<Huh2>

Olympic karate and taekwondo is pretty useless in real life combat. Unless the point is to point fight the shit out of your opponent.
The art of hit and not get hit is useless? Solid take.

It had become a game of tag. Pathetic.

Cobra Kai... way too hardcore.

As a traditional karate practitioner, wkf style point karate is laughed at by EVERYBODY who doesn't do it. It teaches tons of bad habits, and what you saw there, a fighter getting DQ'd for a clean technique, is unfortunately very common.

In this particular instance, even by WKF rules, this should NOT have been a DQ. The other guy clearly leans right into the kick. There's no amount of control that will save you then.

I would've clocked him right off the podium and snatched that Gold. How's that for Olympic spirit.

And people wonder why the ratings are in the tank? Russian Olympic Committee? Beating Horses that won’t jump obstacles? Belarusian Officials threatening their athletes? Chinese children living as robots that only know how to dive off a board?

Ridiculous.

You're not supposed to hurt your opponent in karate olympic. which is fucking dumb and makes the sport pointless.

Olympic Gold Medal for getting knocked out?

Finally, a gold medal made for sherbros

might as well have two chubby gamers on stage playing a video game for high score

Not gonna lie. Thought this thread would be about Kurt Angle based on title. I am disappoint.
