Karate in the Olympics?

You'll get DQ'd if you KO your opponent since only semi-contact is allowed. That's why the other one won. It's dumb but that's how the olympic ruleset for Karate is. They should've just introduced full contact Karate as an olympic sport.

Olympic karate and taekwondo is pretty useless in real life combat. Unless the point is to point fight the shit out of your opponent.

The ruleset is dumb but let's not pretend that every Karate guy on the olympics wouldn't KTFO you in under a minute. If you watched the Kumite it was quite bloody with a lot of busted noses and some KO's, even a snapped arm. It's semi-contact but still it's high level striking.

This is why point fighting in TMA hurts the development of fighters. Great for control but It’s no good for actual full contact fighting.

Coming from 20+ years in traditional martial arts.

Can someone please explaine to me the rules and why he won?

That's pretty repulsive, shame on the guy

Olympic rules are a joke. Rather karate never became olympic sport, now a lot of schools teach this ruleset garbage and restrain their students from touching each other in sparring. It's pathetic coming from someone who had a chance to do real full contact karate and this pussy version.
