The lawsuit that REALLY sticks out to me, is the one where Pfizer experimented on black kids in Africa, under-dosed them with an established medication to make their medication seem more efficacious, and then had to pay nearly 100 million to settle the lawsuit after several kids died.

"Pfizer gave 100 children trovafloxacin, while another 100 received the gold-standard anti-meningitis treatment, ceftriaxone, a cephalosporin antibiotic.[1] Pfizer gave the children a substantially reduced dose of the ceftriaxone (specifically, 33mg/kg)[2] relative to that described on the US FDA-approved prescribing information. The allegation is that this was done to skew the test in favor of its own drug.[3]... Five children given trovafloxacin died, as did six of those given ceftriaxone. The lead investigator, Abdulhamid Isa Dutse, later provided a letter of approval for human trials that was found to be falsified.[1]."

Damn, that's crazy. They're making big moves sooner than expected. I'm curious how they'd plan to enforce that; the border lines between states are huge. As a driver I guess you'd have to use either major highways so traffic-heavy they couldn't possibly stop everyone, or on the contrary lesser known routes that they won't bother putting checkpoints on. Checkpoints in the US with police checking your papers in 2021, bruh.

I can understand the views of some posters and why they would be upset with passports and travel restrictions, but I wouldn’t care. A “vaccine passport” basically signifies the risk of me getting sick and hospitalized or hurting other people is significantly less than an unvaccinated person. If access to business, travel, restaurants, etc can be increased by having these passports, like say if having these in place means restaurants could open up again or go from half to full capacity, then that seems like a big win for the economy. And if this policy encouraged more people to get vaccinated to engage in these activities, then that sounds like a huge win for public health.

NEW YORK (Reuters) -Drugmakers Pfizer Inc, BioNTech and Moderna Inc are expected to reap billions of dollars from COVID-19 booster shots in a market that could rival the $6 billion in annual sales for flu vaccines for years to come, analysts and healthcare investors say.

For several months, the companies have said they expect that fully inoculated people will need an extra dose of their vaccines to maintain protection over time and to fend off new coronavirus variants.

Now a growing list of governments, including Chile, Germany and Israel, have decided to offer booster doses to older citizens or people with weak immune systems in the face of the fast-spreading Delta variant.


Late on Thursday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized a booster dose of vaccines from Pfizer Inc and Moderna Inc for people with compromised immune systems.

Pfizer, along with its German partner BioNTech, and Moderna have together locked up over $60 billion in sales of the shots just in 2021 and 2022. The agreements include supply of the initial two doses of their vaccines as well as billions of dollars in potential boosters for wealthy nations.

Going forward, analysts have forecast revenue of over $6.6 billion for the Pfizer/BioNTech shot and $7.6 billion for Moderna in 2023, mostly from booster sales. They eventually see the annual market settling at around $5 billion or higher, with additional drugmakers competing for those sales.
