Law Is it time to stop traffic stops or have someone other than police to handle them?

Why the fuck does a government employee need to know that I’ve been at the beach or the mall?

What logical explanation is there for someone to be randomly stopped and made to provide that info to the government so they can determine whether I need to be detained or searched? So you feel safer or something?

because you answer the beach and then it turns into oh, have you been drinking at the beach? If not can I see what’s in your cooler? Why don’t you let us search your car? Or you don’t want that? That’s shady why don’t you step out go the car.
They’re literally making small talk, what the fuck is wrong with you that you can’t answer? You complain that they make small talk, someone else is going to say that a cop pulled them over and didn’t even greet them just demanded their papers and say the cop was a dick.

Chinese is a such difficult language to learn, will take me some time

try that and see how the cops respond. It’s likely with suspicion and accusations of hiding something followed by them coming up with some bullshit excuse to detain you anyways. “Oh, don’t want to tell us where you’ve been? His eyes seem red I think he’s under the influence get out of the car.”
I have, and both times went well. Works fine if you are not a douche about it. You can politely say no to a request you do not have to say yes to. It’s really not that bad.

Also it’s not illegal to have unopened drinks in a cooler, it’s not ok to drink all day at the beach then drive home.

As a US citizen I have to answer the question "Where have you been?" on the US side of the border when I'm returning from Canada. Do you think this is tyrannical?
Not necessarily, since it is movement between two separate sovereign nations.

So the erratic driver is still driving around while we now wait for police support to come.
Which you'd be doing most times anyway if it was a single officer in most municipalities. The only data I've seen is from the California Highway Patrol and they've used PITs to stop high speed pursuits approximately 1% of the time. Consdering that they pioneered the technique in law enforcement, I doubt other states have higher usages. That vast majority of the time, single officers are not running erratic drivers off the street without some form of additional support.

"I smell marijuana."

CHIPs? That’s what you’re basing your data on?

Come on. Fast food workers don't have a dangerous job. What an incredibly bad comparison. Just terrible.
I'm not comparing the danger of the job. I'm addressing the fallacy of the argument that because sometimes people die while doing a job that only police should be allowed to do it.

Frankly, traffic stops aren't a dangerous job either. According to the 2019 FBI data, 6 LEO's died during traffic stops. That's 6 too many but, relative to the number of traffic stops that are undertaken annually, it's extraordinarily small.

But this would probably surprise you:
Some 109 worker homicides at limited-service (fast-food) restaurants were reported from 2003 through 2006, the Bureau of Labor Statistics says.

In absolute terms, fast food worker is more dangerous than traffic stops.

You’re an idiot if you think they are making small talk. They are asking questions looking for a reason to detain, search, and write you up for something. Thus why they spazz out if you don’t give them answers. This is most naive thing I’ve heard in a long time.

And I have, and they were complete douche bags about it. And made me sit there forever just in spite.

You can evoke the founding documents as a form of argument but I can't?

As soon as driving becomes a right equivalent to those provided by the 2A sure . . . . knock yourself out . . . until then try not to pull a muscle reaching to equate a privilege to a right.

Sorry dude. Ultimately, some are just dicks about things. Which is why I prefer not to give in to things that are none of their business.
Sucks that happened, but my two experiences were fairly cordial.

You’re paranoid dude. Cops are not looking detain and arrest. If you’re following the rules, regulations and not hiding murder weapons or drugs there’s literally nothing to worry about.

I've got no issue with traffic police. People drive like maniacs where I live. People are always speeding, not using blinkers, in and out of lanes. I actually almost died two days ago because a semi wasn't paying attention and almost ran my car over, at the last second he must've noticed traffic was completely stopped and he swerved out towards the median.

dude, they have fucking ticket quotas. How does a PD simultaneously have a demand for writing tickets but not have their officers out hunting for reasons to write them? You are so gullible.
