Media Jon Jones wants Stipe next

critical portion

“I think fighting Daniel Cormier at heavyweight would be a bigger challenge. He’s more comfortable there,“His body type — that’s the way he wants to be, to be big. I definitely think he will be a tougher fight at heavyweight.

“But I still believe I would win. I believe that I have his number. I know how to beat him.”
He said he wouldn't take the fight. That's all that matters, he could have had the HW title fight then without vacating his LHW title but didn't want it. Of course he will always say he will win, what fighter ever says they would not win a fight?

Because of course Jones would beat DC a 3rd time.

Makes sense to get the most title defeneses ever in his weight class and move up as he gets bigger and slower from aging

No benefit to whooping DCs ass a third time.

People here would certainly complain and cry if he did

No benefit except it would have been his biggest pay day ever. He wasn't confident at all he could win, he admitted it himself. No fighter ever directly says they are scared they will lose so they refused a fight, but that's as close as you will ever hear.

“But I still believe I would win. I believe that I have his number. I know how to beat him.”

The probability of DC winning a 3rd time after losing and being rendered unconscious is statistically negligible.
No odds maker would make that fight

Foremost Jones did what best for his career and money, not what some internet guy hopes.

I know many people want Jones to lose and be afraid, but relying on the guy he left unconscious crying in the ring was not the great hope.

Jones wasn't confident he could win so didn't take the fight. He obviously wants money to fight but refused to fight DC at heavyweight despite it clearly being the biggest money fight he could get. You can say anything you want but he clearly didn't have the same confidence in himself that you have in him.

Like I said.

Im pretty sure if it was the payday he needed for his career he would have made the decision.

An actual real prize fighter knows whats best for his pockets than a dude on the internet who emotionally wants to believe a fighter is "afraid"

Stipes hair alone in the 2nd Ngannou fight shows that he is done. Jones via kicks to the knee

It was the same hairdo he sported when he beat DC a second time, if anything it was even more flyaway then. This meme makes even less sense than "Stipe Tapped."

I never said he was afraid (and if I ever did I must have been trolling), I don't think Jones would actually be afraid to fight anyone in a combat sport. I said he didn't want to fight DC at HW because he was not confident he would win, thus your point lines up with mine. He thought he might lose and ruin his future earnings, he wasn't afraid but was clearly worried he likely might lose and considered it a bad gamble.

Or the more likely and prgamatic scenario

He stays at LHW until his body naturally slows down and puts on mass.
Becomes the longest reigning UFC champion, check.

Take time to adjust to HW and then dominate HW for an even longer, more prosperous career.

as opposed to whooping DC's ass a 3rd time for a lesser pay day

Yeah because beating DC for the HW title would have been a lesser payday than his recent defenses that didn't sell. It clearly would have been the biggest payday of his life, DC was already the other two and at this point DC was HW champion.

A multimillionaire prize fighter and (the best ever) and his management knows whats better for their career than some random poor person/ non fighter on the internet.

Jones can easily go to HW now, dominate and still get super fights with fighters hes not defeated multiple times

So is he making more sitting out than fighting? If you are right and he can win easily then he's an idiot to sit out, if I'm right and he is likely to lose then sitting out hoping for a huge pay day makes sense. So it sounds like you are the one who is saying he doesn't know what he is doing.

I always try to put myself in other people shoes when making an assessment of how they go about making decisions. If my life depended on it, I would much rather fight stipe than Frank. Of course, in my case, I would get waxed either way!

Would be a great fight even with stipe being old

Would be a great fight and very winnable for Jones, pretty predictable of Jones though, Stipe poses pretty low risk and high reward compared to most of the heavyweights in the division. Stipe looked completely outmatched against Ngannou and has been on the receiving end of two brutal ko losses in his past 5 fights, not to mention even in victory took heaps of damage against DC. I feel like Jones wants this fight to match DC's achievements.

I'd still be happy to see it though, hell I'd be happy to see Jones fight literally anyone.

He says "I'm game" then...

BREAKING NEWS: UFC Fighter Jon Jones arrested for punching a prostitute and attacking others while on a cocaine fueled rage over the weekend in Las Vegas."

This doesn't sound that bad tbh.
