He got a titleshot by beating past prime Uriah Faber and Zero Top 5 wins. Then fought Jose Aldo who was on 2 fight losing streak and didn’t deserve a titleshot. Hardly legitimate. And then lost via DQ in his first title fight with a contender.

I’ll grant you his interim title win was legit but that was for an interim belt. Then he got grapplefucked by Aljo

Was a back and forth for 5 rounds against a short notice Sandhagen for a fake belt while Stirling took out Full Camp Sandhagen in a round

Sandhagen did get beat but he had some moments and did well against Yan on very short notice

The UFC and the MMA community kept on enabling Yan and never reprimanded him for his actions and now they have been exposed by the true undisputed defending champ in Sterling

Even coming into the 1st fight
Sterling had the better wins

This should have been the press conference for Yan when he won the fake belt

Agreed. I love Jose Aldo, but he was on a losing streak and had ZERO wins in the BW division. He was not the guy you win a BW belt off of. Sterling vs. Sandhagen was the rightful fight for the vacant belt, and the fans that were paying attention knew this the whole time. This isn't to downplay Yan either, it's just how it is. Yan's claim to a belt was always very dubious at best.

Definitely. Sterling is so damn mediocre.

Yan was extremely overrated, he only has one decent win against Sandhagen and he couldn't even finish him.

Even a can like Marlon Moraes finished Sterling in the first round and Yan could barely do any damage against him.

Yan is an okay fighter but people were talking about him like he was some pound for pound great.
