As a combat sports fan we all sometimes forget that every time someone gets knocked out (even TKO’d where they stumble around for a bit) they get brain damaged. Every (T)KO is different and every human is different. Brain damage is still brain damage.

He always seemed like the sweetest guy too. I feel like he should've made more than he had every dreamed of doing in his career. (I'm assuming he grew up fairly poor in Brazil)

For god's sake, he's taking almost 2 full months off. By that time his brain will be back to new. Shiny, polished, with that new car smell.... and ready to bang (or be banged)! Can't wait!

Jokes aside, I hope his family are talking to him and he starts to listen but it's his life to live. Hard to understand what motivates ppl to do different things sometimes. I hope it's not money. Surely he can parlay his experience on the world stage into something that pays half decently? At least for a decent life in Brazil?

I feel like if you accept a fight with bigfoot at this point you're a bad person. Especially if you are a legit fighter that is on a big win streak like this dude.. I could see if it's somebody that is just starting out or isn't very good but this is ridiculous.
 
This poll kind of proves around 18% of Sherdog posters are probably trolls.

No one thinks Big Foot will actually win but here he is at 17.9%

His lights go out pretty quick just like Overeem. They tend to not take that much damage before they go to sleep. People always use Goodridge as the metric and say so and so will wind up like Goodridge was a brawler who took a lot of damage. Someone like Leben or Gaethje or even big nog have a better chance of having major damage than Bigfoot.

That doesn't make it less sad to see it happening to him however.

Brain damage is inevitable but we don’t know how bad his brain is being scrambled. My examples were just showing a few different ways or people and how it affected them differently. Bigfoot has his reason and he is fighting. He will most likely not end up like Douglas Dedge. He is a fighter and this is what they do. Let him love his life.

In the end he is just another worker, working support himself and his family.
 
Zabıt is a true old school and genuinely respectful guy, he will not go hard for sure. I can guarantee that. He's also on a farewell tour but at least he's only fighting bums or in fixed orgs and taking care of himself.

If going to work means getting your already abused, worn-out brain scrambled more every time… It’s time to switch to another profession.

It is his choice. I bet he has his reasons to keep doing this, but he’ll be an empty shell by his fifties. I’m not sure if his family understands what is on the flipside of paying the bills.
 
Bigfoot Silva is like Bob Sapp at this point just showing up to get KTFO for a paycheck. Sad when someone sells out this bad just to get paid.

hmmm, im no genius or anything, but maybe, this is like some form of chin strengthening technique? Get knocked out so many times in short amount of time and evolution will take over giving you a titanium chin? Isnt that how this works? Dinosaurs went extinct and now we have small chickens who are super fast and used to train great boxers like Rocky
 
Keep fighting Bigfoot. It's beyond a joke at this point.
Not every story needs a happy ending.
