Crime Serial Killer in Northern California

You can live a normal life in a dangerous place, that's the point.

You're allowed to go get a takeaway in a city with a high crime/murder rate and not expect to die, even with a killer killing 1 person once a month.

Obviously that's too complex for @A Very Serious Cat, who feels that's 'strawman'. I have a feeling he never really understood what strawman meant...
Yes, everyone should be allowed to live without threat of being killed, robbed or beaten regardless of where they are. But I’m not “victim blaming” by saying that the city with the highest violent crime rate in the state of California according to fbi data (50k + population) https://www.spolinlaw.com/criminal-defense/most-dangerous-cities-in-california/ is probably not a place you should walk around alone at night. I’m not sure if you’ve spent time in Stockton like I have or not, but it’s not safe

I don’t know if what they are expressing is victim blaming as much as a victim mentality. Danger lurks everywhere for them.

Maybe.

Maybe I'm just from a place where I go out at night whenever I want for any pointless reason I choose and nothing ever happens.

If it's really THAT BAD that you get shot for being on your own at night, then fair enough.

Not gonna go there any time soon, and I'll apologise to @A Very Serious Cat and @llperez22 unreservedly.

I didn't know places like that were real.

Not a strawman? I read your post as implying I was arguing for people "taking backup" to Popeyes or only living on a complex with body guards. It is hard to tell though as you're just posting emotional garbage right now

Projecting emotion, Sherbro.

My point is, if you have business at night, you can't possibly guarantee that someone's gonna be there to hold your hand no matter how trivial/dangerous.

I get it, it was probably a throwaway line, "that place sucks, don't go out at night alone", but it's not really appropriate to randomly targeted victims of a deranged serial killer IMO.

<Fedor23>

I'm not the one who got mad at someone posting innocuous advice on avoiding danger in a bad neighborhood with an active serial killer

I challenge people all the time, doesn't mean I'm emotional or invested in it.

I think that's projecting, to be honest.

Only emotional subject for me is the war in Ukraine, the rest of it, shits and giggles my friend.

Also, I don't ever mind saying I'm wrong, as I'll never have a legit holier than thou complex.

All good, dude, and like I've said to you before: appreciate you as a poster and a lot of the pushback that I get in the War Room.

If I didn't, I wouldn't post here!

This could happen anywhere. I believe every state has had a serial killer. They are one of if not the most rare examples of random violence. Living in fear of being a victim of a serial killer is an irrational fear. It is victim mentality at its worst.

Sounds like the dude from Seminole Heights a few years back. Just shot people and left them there. He got busted bringing the murder weapon to work and asking a coworker to hold it for him. Hopefully this guy is just as dumb.

I know there are definitely people that would alter their behaviour drastically if they were aware of a serial killer in their area, but that article/report is dated yesterday.

They were announcing a press conference.

I'm not sure how anyone could have been expected to alter their behaviour/irrationally fear the presence of a serial killer either.

NorCal has had it's share. When I was a kid, we had the East Area Rapist, turns out he was also the Golden State Killer. The dude lived up in Auburn (Placer County) and was a Sheriff. He drove right past my home in Roseville (Placer County), to murder people in Sacramento County. So, they have this big Town Hall to discuss it and one dude gets up and says, if that guy came around my house, I'd end him. That dude was soon to be a victim as the Serial Killer was in the crowd and took note, targeted him, and did him dirty.

The East Area Rapists evolved into a Serial Killer and improved his techniques. Prior to being a Serial Rapists, he was breaking into homes to just go through people's shit. Hopefully, this guy gets caught fast and has no such evolution and improvement in his skills.

God damn. That's wild. And horrifying.

Everyone was on edge. We felt safe in the Placer County bubble, only to find out decades later through a DNA Family Tree hit on the guy that he was a Placer County Sheriff. The guy's murders spanned well over a decade. It's a crazy story that strangely has never really been done well.

Bad thread to ask, but anyone know a good serial killer show? Something like Mindhunter would be perfect, or even a Netflix doc. Almost finished with the Dahmer one.

alot of the netflix docos are well done/enjoyable to watch
As for fictional shows - not so much, mindhunter was fantastic but loosely based on the book/real life
hope it comes back as it was building to BTK

AS for this guy, sounds like a thrill killer
