Good for Francis for getting paid an amount he's happy with and whatever other demands he had. Also good for Bellator for not opening up the check book and overpaying for the guy like some people wanted them too. I know some fans and media will hate on them for not signing him, but you just don't blow up your whole budget for one aging heavyweight coming off of a major knee injury.

Not at all

So you've read the fine print and know the details?

This is big news and doesn't bode well for the MMA fan. The UFC won't always be the only big player in town. Eventually more and more stars will look elsewhere for fights and other organizations will rise. I expect the UFC to have real competition within the next decade and MMA will become like boxing and there will be many different champs

There will come a day were the best won't always fight the best, as many will fight under different banners. I expect cross promotions in MMA will be even more difficult than it is in boxing, which is frankly terrible! Greed will continue to ruin MMA as it follows the path of boxing.

You only have to look at the difference now compared to 5 years ago and there has been a change. I expect a much bigger change in the next 5-10 years!

I doubt his haters are going to be too bothered that he's signed for PFL lol.

In a huge deal that gives him everything he wanted and the platform to grow both his own position and that of the PFL as well as take part in a big boxing match?

These people wanted to see Francis put in his place, not getting a great deal with his principles intact.

I think he needs the big boxing match to put the haters in their place and until he gets that people will still continue to say he fumbled the bag.

Personally I hope he gets it, but I don't think anyone who's been saying he made a mistake is going to be convinced by him being chairman of PFL Africa in a promotion that loses millions of dollars a year.

Worst kept secret in MMA but...

No MMA fights till the middle of next year to allow for a boxing fight first.

Ngannou signed what’s being called a “strategic partnership” that gives him equity and leadership roles in the PFL. He plans to debut for the promotion in mid 2024 after an expected boxing match to take place in 2023.

Ngannou will compete in the PFL as part of the “superfight” division that has been launched to feature athletes in high-profile fights most likely on pay-per-view with the fighters receiving a bigger share of the profits from the cards.

As part of his deal, Ngannou will also become the new chairman of PFL Africa, as the promotion plans to expand there in the near future. Ngannou will also have a role on the PFL advisory board to represent the athlete’s interests.

Ngannou’s signing represents a major coup for the PFL, one of several MMA promotions to bid for his services. ONE Championship announced earlier this month it had withdrawn from the bidding process over the heavyweight’s contract demands.

The promotion’s deal with Ngannou gives him the right to pursue a longtime dream of professional boxing; “The Predator” has tried to book a fight with Tyson Fury this summer and has been linked to fights with ex-champs Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

In his failed negotiations with the UFC, Ngannou sought not only to box but gain other concessions that included health insurance for fighters and a fighter’s rep in contract negotiations. He said his demands were a non-starter for the industry-leader, though he didn’t expect all of them to be met. After announcing Ngannou’s departure, UFC President Dana White said Ngannou would never again fight in the promotion.

Ngannou’s UFC exit as an active champion was virtually unprecedented.

The 36-year-old Cameroon native last appeared in the octagon at UFC 270, where he unified the heavyweight title with a win over former training partner Ciryl Gane, overcoming a severe knee injury that later required surgery. He was bound to the UFC for one year or three fights under a champion’s clause, but he officially became a free agent under a five-year sunset clause that was put in UFC contracts in response to an ongoing anti-trust lawsuit against the promotion.

Good for him. Just puts to bed the whole "only in it for money" thing and hopefully is a stepping stone for top fighters to call UFC's bluff and look for contracts that have their interests at heart.

There will be copium consumed in industrial quantities sure, but the era of the N'Gannou hater crying like a little bitch has begun. It's going to be fun.
