Islam Makhachev reacts to UFC ranking Jon Jones as the No. 1 p4p. "This is bullsh****

Unfortunately for Islam, Volk putting his “ranking” on the line was just hype for the fight. You can’t just say “my spot vs. your title”. That’s not how it works. It’s not something to gamble away. Volk isn’t the one in charge of the p4p rankings either. Islam shouldn’t even be bothered IMO.

Have more than one title defense and keep winning. You’ll get there champ if you keep the momentum going.
 
It’s almost like whoever the most recent winner is, that wins in a decent fashion, is #1 p4p… Who would of thought?
 
i don't like Jon Jones but what is Islam bitching about? you JUST became the champion beating a bunch of mid competition to get your title shot and then for your first title defense you fight the 145lb champ? Jon Jones has been destroying the majority of his competition for over 10 yrs, don't act like you're on his level.
 
Why does a pro fighter care about some imaginary crap like p4p?

Either fight Jones (lol) or just worry about your little weightclass you got. Islam is really annoying with this crap. Serious Napoleon syndrome going on or something.

Jon Jones looks infinitely better not only because his accomplishments make Islams look tiny comparatively…….. but because his loss to Hamill looks infinitely better than being KO’ed and ACTUALLY losing. His lackluster performance against Reyes (where he looked stronger as the fight went on) still has better optics imo than having someone beating the piss out of you in the final round (where you look like you would lose if you had to keep fighting) in a fight you were suppose to dominate as you panic watch the clock…….. nothing Islam has ever done comes close to Jon dusting Gane for a title.

This being said I think Islam has a great chance to become the GOAT LW with 2 key metrics (win streak and title defenses). I don’t see him coming remotely close to DJ, GSP, JBJ etc. his fight frequency won’t allow it and he will likely either leave to avoid new blood or lose.

That’s a hell of a win. But Jon decimating Shogun was pretty incredible. I would say beating DC and Glover who won like 20+ in a row and a few other fights > Charles. But Charles is incredible right now and I hope what he was saying is true that he was having an off night and can do better. Islam beating him is Islams biggest moment by far.
