Movies THE FLASH (Biggest Flop in Warner Bros.' History; Dragonlord's Review)

If you have seen THE FLASH, how would you rate it?

It was a 6.5 or 7/10 type movie for me. Had a few rough scenes and a few rough CGI spots. I found the initial "hospital rescue" scene to be pretty bad.

But as the movie went on, it got better and better for me. I really enjoyed the third act.

Overall, a solid superhero movie. Too bad it has bombed.

On a side note, I streamed Captain America Winter Soldier the other day and it made me remember how much better made some of the "peak MCU" movies were vs many (but not all) of the recent superhero movies. Streamlined story telling, smooth special effects, good character development, etc.

I expected to do a lot better, my guess is:

-People overrated Keaton's box office draw after the Spider-man' success. Maybe people 30 and under don't care about Keaton at all.
-People hated Ezra as Barry even before he went nuts.
-Snyder fans are boycotting the DC films, they were pretty much the only ones making DC money.
-Gunn's reboot killed interest on the remaining DCEU films.

I think it's just people are tired of DC and their garbage movies.

I was actually stoked for a Peacemaker series, since he was arguably the best thing about The Suicide Squad, Cena was perfectly cast in the role, and the character himself was exciting to watch. And the series knocked it out of the park, with Cena managing to grow Peacemaker as a character. From a psychotic Captain America into someone who's desperate for friendship, wants to be a real Hero, but is consumed with self-loathing that stretches all the way back to his childhood. The series itself was a near-perfect mixture of drama, violence and pitch-black comedy.

Waller is just a manipulative, ruthless bitch. Davis is a good actor, but the character is so flat, I've no interest in seeing her or anyone else play it as the main role. It's not like you can even expect some decent action sequences. Cena is built like a brick shit-house, and his background in WWE helped him make the fight scenes look great. Waller got KTFO by a female office worker with a golf club:rolleyes:
Have you ever taken a golf club to the dome?

Exactly.

I rest my case.

Damn
I didn’t like it but it wasn’t awful

Oh there's certainly been worse comic book movies over the last 3 or 4 years, but its failure is a combination of multiple factors not involving the quality of the movie itself.

Even Michael Keaton's return to the role of Batman for the first time in 31 years couldn't sell the masses on paying to see this trainwreck.

If they had brought back Keaton and Tim Burton for 'Batman 3' using the advanced de-aging process to give us the Batman sequel we should have got 25 to 20 years ago.... that'd be a guaranteed $1.5 Billion movie.

But Keaton in a Flash movie? The least interesting League member gets his own movie? The most annoying?
With Ezra Miller?
Two Ezra Millers?
And a transgender Superw... trans-woman?

And after James Gunn fired Henry Cavill?
After it was announced this was a transition movie into the 'New' DCEU under Gunn's leadership? So it didn't matter?

And Ezra Miller is revealed to be a sex-cult leader? Getting slaps-on-the-wrists by law enforcement? STILL not announced to be fired from DC, even after Johnathan Majors's career is basically over after simple allegations?

This has been guaranteed to be a shitshow for a very very long time.

Winter Soldier pops up all the time on Starz, and if I'm channel surfing and see it's on I will stop 90% of the time and watch it, no matter what part it's at. Such an outstanding movie all the way around.

Funny that I watch it on Starz too (despite having Disney+ where I can watch it any time). I just got Starz on some 99 cent a month deal and Captain America popped up.

Such a well made movie.

I haven't been too impressed with Starz overall though. I watched a few things that are not available elsewhere and I don't see that much more in the library that is super interesting. Do you have any faves I should check out? Thanks.

Off topic but I saw the trailer for Blue Beetle when I went to see the Flash.

Looks like a bomb to me. Obscure character + no well known actors (well, that I recognized at least) + generic trailer + DCU losing streak = potential box office disaster

It really felt like a "wait until it is on Max" sort of movie.

But I don't know anything about the character. If it gets 80% on RT I will go see it in the theatre.

I have their "encore" package, so it's just older movies on every channel. No idea what series they have.

I firmly believe that Winter Soldier is the best movie Marvel has produced, judging it by its well written plot, credible characters and, most important, a villain that makes you reconsider your own stance on villainy.

I'm a Spider-Man and Hulk guy, but Winter Soldier is my favorite Marvel movie by far. There is not one single moment of that movie that I don't enjoy. It's not just a good Marvel/superhero movie, it's a good movie period.

Remember when people acted like David Zaslav was this "brilliant anti-woke businessman" when he cancelled ton of projects many falsely called "woke"?

Well, between this and allowing Velma to be produced, that view has aged like already spoiled milk.

If James Gunn were a smart man he would have said the Michael Keaton Batman Beyond project was contingent on the success of The Flash (rather than saying it had already been scrapped beforehand).

Then again, it may not have made a difference because this film was really poor. I am surprised at some of the more positive ratings it is getting here.

That's Black Panther for me, but otherwise agree CA:WS is the best

@Deorum I finally watched it last night. Go to say it wasn’t terrible at all, The CGI in the speed force was pretty bad in certain parts. Overall I would still give it a 7/10. I still hope Ezra miller never comes back…….<codychoke>
