Who knows when we will see ol’ bones Jones against grandpa Stipe, today it seems the consensus baddest HW on the planet in all combat sports is Francis Ngannou.

So I ask this, does this affect the current perspective on Jon Jones, his standing in MMA and his legacy?

Francis won that fight btw, exceptional performance for a first-time pro boxer.

How did Jones stock go down? He annihilated the guy who made Ngannou look like a punching bag on the feet in under a minute.

0-1 Ngannou out there begging for boxing handouts while Jones is the UFC HW champ and cementing his legacy as the GOAT.

Respect the actual fighter here bud.

Francis is 10+ million dollars richer today, what is Jones net worth?

Do you know anything about money? Francis will be lucky to see 3-4 mil of that money. Jones still has a much higher net worth and is a career long winner.

Francis got outboxed by black beast, I don’t want to hear anything about stock lol.

Undefeated.

At the moment yes... only because the injury he recently had will at least take a year to recover then another year to train and get into fight shape then fight promotion, most likely proberly won't be fighting until early 2026 and who knows Stipe will retire by then

Also what if something goes wrong for Jones during his recovery and he is forced to retire for the sake of his health

As great as it was to see Jones get the HW belt, the situation that he is in is not good for him or the UFC at the moment

The UFC may have to strip Jones and give the belt back to Ngannou to try and salvage this bag fumble

If Jones was fighting next and destroyed Stipe with ease then his stock would not have gone down but he might not come back

If someone (not me) wanted to they could spin this as raising Jones stock. Ngannou had a close fight with Fury but was so scared of Jones he chose to vacate the belt and switch sports rather than fight him

Nah, he and Dana just looked really stupid today. Jon's stock went down when he wouldn't defend against anyone but a retired fighter. And then again with this bizarre injury, pull-out, and continued refusal to fight anyone but a retired fighter.

No. This was not MMA and boxing is next to irelevant to Jons skillset.

The chances of Francis outpointing Jon in a 5 round MMA fight are still very low. And I don't know how that fight would increase confidence that Francis could KO Jones in 1 punch.

It's sorta not relevant to Jones but Jones haters are going to take this fight as a reason to believe Francis would have beaten Jones because that's what they want to beleve and anything that backs that up they will wholeheartedly embrace.

Ironically yeah lol.
Still the most complete MMA fighter ever BUT...
after seeing what threat Ngannou could do to Fury, Jones legacy is worsened because there is a big IF.

Jones vs Ngannou. Forget Stipe, no one cares about that

It cockblocks him from being considered the baddest man on the planet, as did his injury. He could KO Stipe with a head kick in R1 next year and it's still not going to make casuals believe he could beat Ngannou. Also doesn't help that by the time the fight comes together Stipe will have been 3 years inactive. Nobody is really going to care apart from hardcores.

His ufc stock/legacy nah. Dana's claim he's the BMOTP?
