basically, yeah. they’re kind of like interim p4p #1s. great fighters no doubt, but hard to look at them as higher p4p than jon jones.Neither of them were #1 P4P though. They only ever artificially briefly become it when Jon Jones is being inactive and lose it whenever he's back.
Must suck that Jon's been champion since longer than either of them were ever even in the UFC.
yeah, asking for a ranking was kinda lame.Except Khabib had to ask for that #1 P4P spot while announcing his retirement, and Dana gave it to him because he wanted to persuade him from retiring
Islam was such a cutieUnprecedented achievement

He didn't just take already great fighters and improved them like other coaches, he literally taught them how to fight and made them the best in the world. Absolute legend!
Fun fact: Khabib is the only fighter to snatch the P4P #1 spot from an Active Jon Jones
He’s a fucking retard, don’t waste your time bravDo you hate everyone who’s not a Conor nuthugger?
Literally only Khabib was during his lifetime. Islam and Usman became champs years after his death when he was obviously no longer coaching them, and Khabib only became P4P afterwards too.
It's amazing the disrespect you guys are doing for guys like Javier who did help actually train them to champion status and still do. Especially so as you could just dickride Khabib here if you wanted too avoid giving credit to Americans as he coaches them too.
Instead you're pretending a dude who died 3.5 years ago is coaching these guys to their present successes.
When did you get into my backyard to record this?
Sux to be you!The meatriding of Khabib nauseating
Even Javier admits that he wasn't the one to build them up, and he gives almost all the credit to Abdulmanap. In the boxing world it's accepted that the coaches who deserve the most credit for being great are those that've groomed an athlete from the amateur ranks all the way to champ status. Any coach that does that consistently has proven their greatness. Abdulmanap passed away by the time Islam and Usman became champs but the work he did is what put them on that path. Does anybody really think Islam would've been anywhere close to who he is if he had grown up in a different village and never met the Nurmagomedovs? Does anybody think Khabib and Islam wouldn't be as good as they are today if they had gone to Mark Henry's gym in Jersey instead of AKA (which Khabib almost did)? Javier made them better for sure, even guys like Cain/DC/Rockhold made them better, but don't kid yourself 90% of the credit belongs to Abdulmanap.Literally only Khabib was during his lifetime. He definitley helped their striking alot. That much is very obvious. Abdulmanap didnt even want Khabib to spar until he went there, and Javier convinced him that they had to. Them baiting Conor's left out, that had to be from AKA. The bread and butter will always be to get it to the ground, but the striking, def comes from Javier.Even Javier admits that he wasn't the one to build them up, and he gives almost all the credit to Abdulmanap. PS, this is not a diss on Javier, but have you seen his role in Islam's camp these days? He basically doesn't do anything besides holding mitts once in a while; he isn't even there for the majority of the camp, he has nothing to do with the fight plan, and he has virtually no input in the corner. Javier is a figure head "head coach", he's kept around because these guys are tremendously loyal and they have genuine affection for him as a father figure. He's like the king of england, has no actual authority on running the country but is the symbolic leader that the citizens feel deeply attached to emotionally.
Yes, he definitely helped with their striking, he also helped them with fight camp "best practices". Khabib didn't even own headgear when he first arrived, so Javier taught them all how to run a professional MMA camp suitable for the UFC. But the rest of the team (including the coaches back in Dagestan) matured in the last 10 years, so now Javier is like a professor emeritus and doesn't do much.He definitley helped their striking alot. I think strategy wise they def have their own proven way,for sure...but if they didnt need Jav they wouldnt fly all the way there to train.Yes, he definitely helped with their striking, he also helped them with fight camp "best practices". I honestly think it's just a deep emotional attachment to him. There's a mental aspect to who you include in your corner, having people you love and trust around you is a huge morale and confidence booster.I think strategy wise they def have their own proven way,for sure...but if they didnt need Jav they wouldnt fly all the way there to train.
Enough to fly all the way to Cali from Dagestan?? lolI honestly think it's just a deep emotional attachment to him. There's a mental aspect to who you include in your corner, having people you love and trust around you is a huge morale and confidence booster.
Islam doesn't do his camps in San Jose anymore unless his fights are in America, BTW, airfare is a small price to pay for the psychological comfort of having a trusted coach and mentor for such a high stakes fight in which you're getting paid millions.Enough to fly all the way to Cali from Dagestan?? lol
No doubt. I just know those guys are going there to train when fighting in US.Airfare is small price to pay for the psychological comfort of having a trusted coach and mentor for such a high stakes fight in which you're getting paid millions. And btw, i'm willing to bet Javier's stay in Abu Dhabi is comped. Go look at this IG feed, he's friends with some powerful people there. So all Islam is likely paying for is the flight.
