Opinion Your 2024 Predictions

One thing I'd predict is that if the economy continues on its current trajectory/level (low inflation, low unemployment, strong growth, high wages), we'll see a convergence between reality and perception. I think a good case can be made that there's just a bit of a time lag.

I'm now convinced this guy is a full time troll. There's no way this is a real and serious person.

Trump will be convicted of at least one J6 related felony by summer. Probably conspiracy to obstruct and/or obstruction of an official proceeding.

He’ll catch the misdemeanor version of falsifying business records in NY.

He’ll be convicted of multiple felonies in GA by October.

I will laugh and laugh.

I think the interest rate cuts will help a lot in that regard.

Always funny to see people being unable to comprehend other ways of viewing things. People have been trained to expect bad things from the pandemic, that's wearing off now, and the economy has recovered and arguably boomed. If that continues, people might genuinely start to believe things are good and even will get better. That seems pretty ABC to me.

Hard to comprehend when everything somebody says is the complete opposite of reality. If CNN tells @Jack V Savage that water isn't wet he'll be on here the next day saying that water isn't wet.

Wrong, on every count. Something being wrong isn't incomprehensible, as comprehending something is a requirement to think it is such. I comprehend what you are saying, and I think it's idiotic. And water isn't wet, actually. Water has the causative property of making things wet, but is not itself wet. And in the event that CNN would suggest something like "water isn't watery" they'd be discredited by everyone, including JVS. Besides, from what he's written before CNN would not qualify as his most significant source of inspiration in terms of what he thinks is correct (you can ask him about that) AFAIK. Postulating CNN as somehow being the ultimate or default source of left-wing views is ridiculous at any rate, and is such a predictable go-to for right-wing idiots.

Yeah I guess Biden is super sharp and capable and the US economy is doing great. Just don't look at the prices when you go to the grocery store or when you're filling up your gas tank and don't watch any video of Biden speaking.

The CNN example is predictable because it's so spot on, thus commonly used. Earlier he mentioned something ridiculous about "left wingers consuming reliable mainstream media while right wingers consume partisan media only". Another hilarious example of his little fantasy world and the propaganda he believes. I doubt I could ask him about which media he consumes because he seems to have everybody who challenges his fantasy world views on ignore.

Wages have gone up more than prices on average, leading to people being more prosperous on average. Biden fumbles words but isn't intellectually impaired. JVS said that the left mostly relies on mainstream news whereas the right mostly relies on partisan news, not "reliable mainstream media" or "partisan media only". Telling that you can't even read or remember correctly. You can actually ask him what he reads: you are stupid and wrong in what you say, but not to the point of being unable to ask basic questions.

FWIW, I don't watch much TV in general, and rarely TV news. I read a lot. My source of info about the economy is just direct stats, generally. The MSM has been unreasonably down on it.

Wages have nearly doubled? That's news to me.

Also I can read and remember things correctly. When you say one side reads partisan media and you don't mention that for the other side you're obviously implying that the media other side consumes isn't partisan. I'm sure I could ask him basic question but when somebody doesn't respond to me like 5 times in a row then obviously there's no need to keep trying.

At this point I'm just at a mix of being baffled by the complete blindness and finding it funny. I'm legit wondering if he's a real person or a paid DNC shill which makes it kind of interesting too to keep me guessing. That's what I was pointing out in the first message when you started replying to me.

Wages haven't doubled, but CPI hasn't been 100% recently either. Peaked at eight-point-something IIRC.

When you confuse "X relies on Y" and "Y is reliable" it really calls into question your abilities in comprehension. Moreover, you're directly calling him a troll and insinuating that CNN dominates how he thinks. Those two combined amounts to you putting words into his mouth. Not very tempting to respond to that, is it? As if the DNC would somehow pay someone to post on a sub-forum of an MMA site. A hysterically bad-faith suggestion, basically a conspiracy theory.

Now try looking at food and gas prices and try to imagine how that would affect people are already struggling to make ends meet. Maybe then you'll realize why the CPI number is completely irrelevant and largely bullshit when you consider cost of living and what people's big expenses are.

That's the thing with you people blindly quoting numbers. There seems to be a complete failure of understanding what it actually means. People in real life see their grocery bills almost doubling in 3-4 years time and they can't pay the bills anymore, but you're quoting irrelevant numbers because you average it out with the price of a new car and a visit to the physiotherapist, things these poor people can't afford in the first place.

You have a million homeless people but you pretend the economy is doing great because you just ignore them in all of the metrics you quote. It's all smokescreens and you're unable to see through them.

2024 prediction - There will be a presidential election. It will have a Republican and a Democrat nominee. One of those two will win it.

2025 prediction - The person who won will become president.

If you think these predictions are too bold, don’t get me started on 2028.
Very bleak

I guess some men just want to watch the world burn

Israel will disengage from Gaza but Hamas will still be active. Both sides will claim victory. Mostly because the war has been bad for business in the region.

Stalemate in Ukraine, some kind of deal will be discussed but I'm not sure it will be reached. More of a non prediction, AKA no side will achieve decisive victory.

I think tech stocks in general will go up. I'd bet decently on hardware, outside of NVidia. Intel, AMD, ASML, TSMC. 10%+.
