Sean landing but constantly having to fend off a much more athletic and forceful opponent.

I mean, I didn't see DDP win any other round besides 4, if I'm being generous. He lost all significant strikes, and didn't do anything with a takedown. There was 0 ground control time. 0 guard, 0 side control, 0 mount. Sean got up everytime.

DDP threw a lot of sloppy strikes moving forward. Sure, some landed. But the majority did not. Strickland landed a lot of counters when he was moving forward. I really don't understand why they reward "aggression" if it means nothing.

Wait for the fight metrics numbers. The strikes were probably about even, even though DDP threw and missed more. Sean probably landed some more strikes, but DDP landed the harder strikes.

I saw the fucking fight. I don't need a statcast to tell me that Sean's jabs did just as much damage as DDP's as I can see his face was busted up and his eye was almost closed. Just because he didn't bleed - look at BJ Penn rarely, if ever bleeding even if he was outstruck for example - doesn't mean that the damage DDP did was greater. Some guys just don't bleed and scar tissue is real. Jesus fucking Christ. I've been watching this sport far too long to be having these stupid discussions, lol.

Aggression while you're losing the standup isn't effecting and cannot yield octagon control. Damage has nuance. Pressure isn't always effective and movement alone shouldn't score if your opponent is landing strikes. FML.

DDP had octagon control the whole time, constantly attacking and yes landing something decent on occasion. Sean was bleeding like he got slashed with a knife.

Just because DPP was missing alot does not mean he was not landing a decent amount also especially with his kicks. Sean just basically jabbed for most of the fight. This was a close chess match that could have gone either way.

If Sean was defensively sound as he was, while also pouring on some aggression, he would have won this fight. But he never once had DDP on the back foot, and jabs aren't going to win you the fight in the eyes of the judges. There just wasn't enough.
