Islam (or his team) likes to micromanage everything about his fights it seems.

He generally likes to pick both the opponent and the date, and if he can't do either, he is more than happy to sit out until a situation he is happy with falls into place.

I believe Islam stated he wanted to fight in March multiple times. Whether you believe that didn’t happen because of him or the UFC probably depends on how you feel about him personally.

I'm curious why Max and Justin are both stuck on the February date in particular, though. We'll likely never know what goes on behind the scenes, and we can't really believe any of these guys to be honest. some of them simply don't have all the info, and others save face by telling half truths and flat out lies etc etc.

The passion with which Max said all of this, seemingly unprompted too, made me feel like it was the most relevant part of the interview. He did also mention that MMA fans suck, and that he only had 6 weeks to prep for that second dustin fight and that he wasn't at all in fight shape when he accepted it.

It's a long ass interview man. if you want to go through and find other good quotes, we can add them, but seriously, watch max talk about the part I timestamped. Max got the fire in his eyes and he wants answers!

Well exactly, we will never know all the goings on or the full picture. The fighters themselves often probably don’t know the full picture either. And they’ll all say whatever paints them positively and/or whatever paints a foe negatively. So fans on the outside can basically only speculate and how they interpret things is very likely connected to whatever their personal feelings are about whatever fighters are involved in most cases.

For whatever it’s worth, my personal opinion is I think Islam does like to choose when he fights and has some unwillingness to deviate from his timelines. He also will not fight without what he deems proper preparation windows. But I don’t think it has anything to do with avoiding certain opponents.
