Max Should Be the Number 2 Ranked Lightweight Right Now, Right?

What the heck is this list, the person(s) who made this must not watch MMA. Am I crazy or should Max not be ranked #2 right now and not #9? Gaethje could easily have challenged Islam for the belt if not Dustin, he was right at the top. Realistically Max should only be behind Arman, even if you put Dustin ahead of him he still should ranked at least #3.

At least that's what Wax Holloway fans said about Max's chances against Topuria even though Topuria knocked out someone he couldn't even get a W against after trying 3 times.

Your post makes some sense, untill i recall he beat Fiziev, Poirier and Chandler, Chandler might be a tad high, specially at the moment, but those are 3 top 10 wins, #2 going into UFC 300 was probably right.

I don't think so. We've only seen him against Poirier years ago and now Gaethje. Sample size of two, currently 1-1 at lightweight. He could beat Gaethje but lose to other top 10. We don't know yet.

Tsarukyan beat Charlie Olives and took his ranking. Max beat Gaethje and moved to ninth. Whether he we believe he is staying at 145 or if he would beat the guys ahead of him is irrelevant, he should jump the guy he beat. The fact that he didn't makes zero sense.

As was pointed out to me, previously. If Max had committed to staying at LW. Then that is probably what his rank would have been.

It’s not UFC fuckery, so much as what actually makes sense for both divisions, considering the circumstances.

i cannot say he's better than all those guys above except justin. one exemplary win against someone thats not the champ or ever was shouldn't immediately propel you over the guys that worked their way up the ranks.

personally speaking, i think do bronx, armaan, DP, and chandler (on a good night) probably beat him. the rest, i think he plows through.

That fight doesn't have any bearing on Max's fight with Justin, why would it? FW fights do nothing for your ranking at LW and vice versa. Max knocked out the #2 guy at LW, so that absolutely should put him up high in the LW rankings. That's kind of how it works. If someone said that Max's ranking at FW should change based on his fight at LW, then i'd say that's stupid.

top contender in featherweight or lightweight? i think they are guys in front of him for sure in the lightweight division. but in featherweight, nobody has an answer left for ilia beyond a volk rematch and max. aljo is a couple matches away from that opportunity too, a victory over yair would probably seal the deal for a title shot for him

No I meant people were saying that Topuria knocking out Volk did not mean that the same would happen to Max. They were even saying Max would beat Topuria.

Now, I'm saying that since styles make fights... Max shouldn't be ranked higher than #9.
