I got picked for C.L.E.E.T. I need a handgun and 12 gauge pump

I am not a fan of the springfield. One they have a weird grip safety and a trigger safety. While they due have high capacity makes you may get more FTf and fte. Like I was saying before the only manufacturers you should look at for handguns is Hk glock and maybe smith and season. Also being that your Leo you may be able to get a Benneli pump that has eight round mag tubes. I was at a gun show once and the difference between that and the remjngton870 was noticeable the Benneli was much tighter.!does that mean it will perform better I don't know.

Also on a side note I think it's dumb that Leo still carry shotguns as there primary long guns. They can't defeat bodyarmor and they don't carry many rounds. I think it should be some AR variant or better yet a mp5 variant that all leo's have in patrol cars.

Sub guns like MP5's are being phased out by SBR ARs. Why have a pistol caliber when you can have a rifle caliber.

Glock 22 and Remington 870 are going to be your best bet. Leo price on the glocks is very cheap as well.

Pistol is to fight to your shotgun, shotgun is to fight to your AR, which is usually in the trunk.

If this guy already works for a department why does he have to buy the weapons? Does he have to purchase his gunbelt too?

A lot of police work in densely populated areas. Slinging an AR15 around shooting through cars 9 blocks away when they miss is NOT a good thing. Thats why shotguns are STILL popular. Most police shootings take place well within its lethal range, and you dont have to worry about collateral damage from over penetration as much.

Lol what? And what is smith and season?

I never said I worked for a department. Im a detention officer. We do alot of transporting of inmates. You need to be cleet certified to do that. This is a good way for me to advance my career tho condsidering most people who do work at my jail end up a LEO.

And yes.....I do need a freaking gun belt to. lol

Are you OCSO, Cleveland, or one of the yards?

I feel good now, didnt know I got that good of a deal. Figured it was about right...

A few of the shops around me were selling G26 for around $590. One place was selling used ones for that price.

Don't buy a cheap belt. A good belt is worth it's weight in gold.
Also, I agree with Cody that a 9mm is not a duty weapon, but if you are footing the bill it is the way to go.
Good Luck with your chosen career, and try to do your best to stay on the honest side of Law Enforcement. There will be many that will try to convince you that a lie for the greater good is okay. You should challenge them with "how far are you willing to take it?".

Also be sure to check the availability of holsters and magazine pouches available for the weapon you are purchasing. It does you no good to buy something that does not have a quality holster and magazine pouch for your duty belt. All my stuff is Bianchi Accumold for my belt, my holster is a Safariland Level II holster for my SIG P220 with Surefire X300. Don't buy a cheap POS holster with little or no retention, not worth it in my opinion.

Thats why subguns should be a better option then ShotGuns. AR's are great but they can penetrate more and have a longer range which may or maynot be a good thing.

Also someone said that Sub Guns are being Phased out. Im not so sure about that. I see LAPD swat still uses them. Secret Sercive NYPD ESU. Port Authority ESU and also alot of departments are also going for the UMP in 45.
