jit cheosakul, executive manager of rajadamnern, held a press conference at 2pm today.
he confirmed the departure of the 4 promoters (boat, chef boontham, winai naksin, and sumet sueksattangkot); he doesn't believe this will have any effect as he has 9 other promoters. he will not hire additional promoters and added that if the 4 change their mind, they are more than welcome to return.
the main discussion point was obviously boat petchyindee.
jit said that they have always had a good relationship as they are similar in age and from the same generation but boat's facebook live videos and posts where he spoke out publicly caused a lot of criticism for the stadium. he felt that some of the issues raised by boat on social media were not true and that when he responded back, it was not from an official/working position but rather from his point of view, akin to friend to friend or brother to brother.
reducing the rental cost for promoters is not something that he can decide on his own as it depends on the board of directors. jit also addressed another point from boat where he said there were some meetings held amongst promoters where he was not invited. jit said that it was not an official meeting, it was just having coffee chat.
the stadium should cover all relevant expenses but states that the promoter should properlypay the boxers. this agreement must be in place, especially during this time, so that the fighters can resume supporting themselves and their family as soon as possible once the stadium reopens. they are still working on guidelines for reopening. he acknowledges the lack of regular television coverage but will be looking into online formats to suit the "new normal" format of closed door events for the foreseeable future.
boat commented on the facebook feed of the press conference that he is done on this topic and that he sincerely apologizes for anything he may have done to upset jit and he wants this to all to end well.
