5 rounders favor point fighters, fighters can take a round off, where in a 3 rounder you can't really afford to.

5 rounders make fighters more timid and focus on energy conservation because they know that it could potentially go 5 rounds. In 3 round fights, if someone gets rocked, they are more likely to go for the finish because the contest doesn't last nearly 30 minutes.

5 rounders are bad for fighter longevity. We have all seen countless examples of this. Even if the fighter wins by first round stoppage, the training camp for a 5 rounder destroys your body. Its twice the sparring, twice the cardio.

3 rounders are more action packed. Fighters do not have to pace themselves as much and can afford to do more high energy takedowns like a suplex or a slam. In striking they can do more explosive strikes like wheel kicks and high kicks which you don't see nearly as much in 5 round fights. I

3 rounders on average will allow fighters to have longer careers. You get to see more of your favorite fighters. Many times after a 5 round war, fighters start to take more time off between their fights. The money and rankings are a factor, but its also because they are taking more damage in the 5 round fights and training camps. Fighters would be more active if all the fights were 3 rounds.

To those who say lay and pray would be more viable, this is incorrect. You might get away with it for one or two fights, but as soon as you lose, you would get cut just like Jared Rosholt, or just having a boring style in general like Theodorou. All the classic 5 rounders would be just as exciting packed into 3 rounds.

Its not the 5 rounds making it better, its the fact that its often a title fight between the top fighters in the division.

Three rounds favor wrestlers and get less finishes.

PS: DNR

All fights should be decided by one man not being able to continue. Fuck time limits all together.

Unless its Wmma. One 3 min round would be great.

Cerrone just fought 5 rounds against a top 10er about 3 weeks ago

On one hand you're saying guys don't go hard enough....then it's shortening careers?

Isn't that kinda how this all works anyway?

There should just be 1 long ass round and then at the end if the the overall feeling is that people want it to continue, it should continue.

I would personally favor 1x15 minute round, but the athletic commissions would never allow it.

Without rounds 4 & 5 fights like Robbie/Rory 2, Hunt/Bigfoot 1, Hendo/Shogun 1, Jones/Gust 1 etc wouldn't have been the classics that they became.

We also would have never gotten round 5 of Lawler/Condit.

Tbh this will lower finishes
You will see more fights ending up both fighters exausted without energy to finish each others

Grappling in quick time already steal a lot from the punch

Another disguised Conor thread :)))))))))))))))

3 rounds is perfect for normal fights. 5 rounds is good for championships.

if its a rematch in a championship fight it should be 7 rounds.

Only title fight 5 rounds
Why main events have to be 5 rounds I still don’t get

Boxing should be 1 round bruh,it'd be like a fricken streetfight hey!

1 20 min rd. No stand up, bring in the card system and use it liberally to incentivize urgency. 60k for a stoppage of any kind that isn't declared a foul or NC

No way lol
Boxing is 1 weapon (hands) so we run multiple rds.

Since vale tudo is all weapons it should be a 1 and done.

Think about it
