^ by JAL's logic. Werdum was heavyweight GOAT for beating Fedor. Until Werdum lost to Overeem, then he was GOAT. Until Overeem lost to Bigfoot, at which point, JAL thought Bigfoot was the heavyweight GOAT.

Easy to be goat if the qualification is getting as little victories as possible, then running off to stay 'undefeated.' More like undefended

It’s tough to call Aldo the GOAT because he lost to most of the all time greats on his resume.

he beat a lot of good fighter but only 2 hall of fame wins over Faber and Edgar.

Conor, Max 2x, Volk, Yan > Aldo
 
Aldo is at the table, if he gets the BW strap you could put him top 3 for sure. At the moment, it's GSP by a wide margin, followed by Anderson and Fedor, then Jones if you don't mind the PED shit. I'd put Aldo as rounding out the top 5.

Aside from Conor, Max, Yan and Volk are basically the 3rd generation of fighters he's fighting in his career. He was undefeated for 10 years and had an 18 fight win streak ... it couldn't last forever.
The Volk loss hardly counts the same, he just got outpointed in a boring decision.
As for Conor, Aldo has almost as many title fights as Conor has UFC fights. Conor's legacy is pretty weak compared to Aldo.

It’s been going on since I’ve been on Sherdog. It’s never going to stop. It definitely feels like it’s been worse the last 5-6 years though.
 
It’s way too prevalent and irrelevant around here. There is no one true GOAT, except Amanda. She actually fought and beat everybody else that’s ever been in the conversation. And this loss doesn’t just erase all of that.

In the men’s GOAT discussion, none of the usual suspects has even fought eachother. So there’s literally no head to head reference points. At least if you contain the discussion to weight classes. It makes some sense.
