Are DWCS Fighters the Monkees of MMA?

Does that make Leavitt the Monkee King?

But seriously, not a terrible analogy. Still, you can’t throw O’Malley in there with those other busts — like him or not, he’s legit as both a fighter and a needle-mover.

Just because something is good for the UFC doesn't mean it's good for mma.
It's been well documented that the UFC would rather have less skilled but more entertaining fighters on their roster. That's because the average UFC fan isn't a mma fan. They are fight fans. They want to see car wrecks. The UFC wants to make money so they will manipulate their business to make as much money as possible.

Jarrod Rosholt (was 3-1 in the ufc HW division before the ufc decline to resign him because he was boring)

The TV and push is just the UFC'S PR machine that can make any fighter look unstoppable. The UFC doesn't need the best fighters on their roster because the ufc knows whomever the promote as the best the non-knowledgeable public will eat it up and shill for the UFC.
the ufc says they want the best fighters but evidence shows the contrary.

There will eventually be champions from the contender series. they've given many great fighters already

The Monkees wrote many of their own songs , at first the television studio wouldn't let them record them. Mike Nesmith, who regarded himself as a musician first and an actor second, pushed especially hard to make his band real, and the producers eventually relented. And they were good songs.. Look at this list of their songs and you will see quite a few were written by them.

And yes, Dana is looking for stand-up action, hoping talent/skills will come later as they get paid more and can get better training. Agression and drive is what many employers are looking for.
