Best fighters ever in each weight class?

Strikers failed to defeat Khabib in MMA
Grapplers failed to defeat Pereira in MMA

MMA is MMA, anything goes even 1 punch no skill lucky knockouts
Well, Pereira hasn't really fought any grapplers, but that's another argument.
It just makes the discussion hard when you're talking about skills. A guy with mediocre grappling and amazing striking is less skilled overall than a guy who is great everywhere, but not amazing anywhere. The former is more likely to win, even though the latter is the better all around fighter.

- Fader
- Jim Jones
- Anderson Silver
- DJ Ben
- Canner Mcgregor

This list is full of Johnny Come Lately's

Even if we assume the longer MMA exists, the more skilled the fighters will get, there's still way too much representation from modern guys
Agreed. This list has some clear recency biases.

If the criteria is "Skill level, not accomplishments or resume" than Randy Couture and Cole Konrad are more deserving of the honor than Francis.

It is MMA, therefore skill level means someone that is more well-rounded fighter than Francis and Poatan.

He fought a very low level of opposition.

francis beats couture in a 1-vs-1 fight. same thing with cole

"Who's champ now guys? Okay we add him to the list hehe"
- TS

should i add former champs who have like 7 losses on their records...?

i also included old fighters. and the best old fighters would beat most (not all) of the best new fighters

- francis knocked out overeem
- yoel (olmpic silver medalist) couldn't GnP izzy
- dricus knocked out rob. also, rob had 2 chances to beat izzy but couldn't

Ngannou knocked out econoreem, prime overeem was different gravy. Plus I don’t think ngannou has many elite wins other than blaydes 2, econoreem and the worst version of stipe ever

yoel got robbed in that fight

dricus is very good and I could see him being champ for A while so maybe a few years from now but I think rob got robbed against Izzy the second fight, so his only losses were yoel who he is 1-1 with, izzy who he’s 1-1 with and dricus, which was a chin issue in all of those, not a skill thing. He’s extremely well rounded and would go years between losses, his only loss he isn’t tied with (dricus) could go on to become an all time great potentially

You made an All Time post and most entries are current fighters?
HW with no Cain?
LHW no Shogun?
MW no Prime Wiedman?
WW No Matt Hughes?
LW nobody from outside Dagestan?
FW BW & FlyW you can't list more then 1 current fighter?

I am guessing time started for you in 2015?

I dont really rank fighters...but ...Fedor during pride up till 30...vs JJ up to LHW ...who is better? really no idea..both goats...imo...just time and era..

So for JJ...he was so good till last three fights at LHW..he was slipping but thats normal after wear and tear..nothing against...his reign was real

Fedor...same thing in Pride...but...Fedor did pure fight crap and pulled wins off...not sure how to rank it against JJ...but Fedor was a guy going to win and pull it off...once pride fell ...Fedor fell ..sure he went to strike force...but not same feeder...imo.

JJ came from a different era than Fedor...so wont compare....but Fedor and JJ...probably the two goats I can not deny..
