You are wrong about this part. General practitioners make reasonable but nothing special for their training. If you wanted to cut cost at a hospital, you would cut administration cost. It is ridiculous. My doctor has her own clinic and she is slow and won't accept new patients but the care is ready and thorough. No one is harping on her to hurry up to see 30 patients each day. MBAs have turned hospitals profit turnstiles of mediocre and expensive care.

Your immunity would last longer because you would develop antibodies to the underlying virus regardless of strain

The best solution is to address the root cause and eradicate the virus by banning unregulated animal markets such that it does not become endemic..and thats something the intl community needs to pressure china into

These stats are from 2009 (if you can find more recent one feel free to post) but the US general practitioner blows away every other country in terms of salary. There is actually more equality in salaries for Specialists for the top countries:

My 18 year old cousin has contracted the virus. She works at a long term care facility and she's now in isolation lockdown. I just talked to her and she's feeling fine right now. Fingers are crossed but she's young and healthy and should be fine.

I don't follow the logic.

The biggest effort has been forced by a highly contagious attack on all system resources. Someone requiring those resources would be exposed to this new danger. I can't imagine how any efforts against Corona would bolster defense against pneumonia.

I think Luke's point was deaths to pneumonia or other flues are simply being added the the Covid count.

Really man? You don't see how social distancing, wearing masks, hand washing and disinfecting surfaces would help against other infectious respiratory diseases?

China in Focus says there's a document circulating stating that a province is converting 52,000 rooms to quarantine spaces. They're looking into converting hotels and vacation resorts.

You're right, I can see that. In fact, I've mentioned exactly that point.

The problem is that Novel Corona is overwhelming the system that tales care of those people.
