Is this think still going on??

So Wales has officially been placed into a 2-week "fire break" (TM, buzzword of the month) lockdown.

Same laws as March, but for a fixed period until Monday, November 9th (it starts at 6pm on Friday, giving businesses a heads up I guess). Stay at home order (apart from food shopping and exercise), all non-essential businesses and hospitality shut down. Ban on meeting anyone outdoors or indoors.

He's adamant this will end on 09/11/20 so lets hope he sticks to his word. They've come up with a decent enough short-term fund for businesses at least.

My only issue is I don't think its gonna have much of an impact.

We're currently reporting an average of 500-800 cases a day, usually at the top end.

An optimistic outcome for me, is that after 17days that comes down to around 200-300. And what then? We'll be back to 800 by the end of November no doubt.

The only possible explanation for zero deaths in Sweden today... is that they must ALL already be dead now. #RIPSweden #LockEverythingDownForever

But they did lockdown, it just wasn't legislated. The power of socialism!

This will get very little attention in the media. The need to demonise Sweden for refusing to be bullied into following the global narrative must remain in place, and things like this will turn heads. I know where I'd rather have lived from March to October (and beyond) 2020.

I saw hockey gear company Bauer is selling these cool, but not sure if really thin, clear plastic face shields that seem to sit on your baseball cap bill, but it doesn't completely seal your face and neck.

Saw one football helmet maker had these three panels to attach to football face shield via what looked like zipties/velcro, but I'm guessing virus can get inhaled through the gaps.
Yeah, my friend and his staff in a restaurant have the plastic things, and I saw some of the plastic things watching NFL yesterday. I guess some protection's better than no protection. We have them at work, I wouldn't mind it if they enforced we all wear those, I don't know what most people look like being I've only worked there since Covid, and you can't smile at people. with the face coverings!

So you have never ever passed on germs and illness to another person in your life? NEVER and you have postitive proof of this 100%?

I have had jobs in the past where you have to be dieing not to go into work (royal mail for 3 years)I had the measels, covered in spots and I had to go into work otherwise I would have lost my job.. that was reality.. if I didnt go to work I loss my ability to provide for my family and put food on the table and a roof over their heads.. so I went into work with a contagious disease, they knew fair well thaty I had it and for adults it could be dangerous.. but productivity and international parcel processing was more important.. and putting food on my families table was more important because that IS survival.

Its pretty simple really.

You failed to read my reply, take your time over it.

I said in my first sentence never say never. Of course I've been a vector for disease, but that is inevitable for us all as social beings. I have however since I became aware of the consequence (and in no small part enjoying being ill in private) done my best to keep illness to myself.

Don't just read a sentence and reply at that ignoring the context bro.

In your situation at royal mail I would have done the same as you I expect. I have always perceived there to be other options for myself, a position of privilege for sure, but even so I'm aware if the need to provide for ones family being a supreme motivator.

York Region, in Toronto Canada where I live, has gone back to modified stage 2. Stage 2 requires movie theaters to be closed. I won't be watching UFC 254 this Saturday in theaters.

We will stay in stage 2 for two incubation periods, which is 28 days.

@GSP_37

From what I understand those plastic face shields are useless.
