All of these are really good wins that are on par with gsps best wins imo. The only win that gsp can say is against a prime guy who is an all time great was Jake Sheilds who in reality beat gsp on the feet for 2 rounds in the worst fight ever. I honestly cant say I ever watched a gsp fight and enjoyed it start to finish.

Georges has quite possibly the most overrated career in the history of the sport. All of his opponents never even went .500 after fighting him aside from Jake who went exactly .500. So that tells us that the guys he fought were all on the downside and they werent even all time greats who held belts in other orgs or weight classes or even in his own weight class. Honestly I think the Sean Sherk win might be the best of his career after Shields probably tied with condit and fitch.

When the Robbies, Hendricks (who beat the shit out of him), Rory and Twoods of the world came around he retired and waited for the weakest champ in the history of the sport aside from Carla Esparza and came out of retirement for a fight with a cyclops who was on his last legs. Great win georges I wonder if he would have come back for Whittaker or Izzy lol.

Nothing against gsp, he seems like a great guy and a great ambassador for the sport but he isnt anywhere near Bones, Anderson and Fedors level. MM and gsp have similar resumes imo, both dominated good not great fighters. At least Mm had some finishes.

I'm a bigger fan of Jones than GSP but your argument is ridiculous. GSP beat the man regarded as the best WW and arguably #2 too this day in his prime, twice.

Fitch in his prime who was the clear #2 for years and most certainly would have held the belt if not for GSP.

Prime Penn twice who was regarded as the best LW of all time, had already beaten Hughes too win the WW belt and given Georges one of his toughest fights previously.

Shields, an all time great without question.

Koscheck, the clear #3 for years twice, in his prime.

Condit, the former WEC and Interm UFC Champion and long time top 5 contender also in his prime.

Diaz, another perennial too 10 fighter and former champion in his prime.

Basically George beat 2 guys that had no real business getting Title shots against him at the time but since he had already destroyed everyone ranked above them he had too fight someone.

The majority of the names on his list had, or would have almost undoubtedly, won UFC Titles if it hadn't been for one thing...... GSP.

George has 5 wins over MMA hall of famers (atleast, possibly 7) all in their Primes.

Jon has a great list of names at the too of his resume but none where in their primes and a few names that were names but had no business getting title shots against him (Vitor/ Chael) where well past their primes and never held a UFC belt (they didn't win by a fluke eye injury and immediately lose in dominant fashion too the same guy.)

Both resumes are great and on paper Jons actually looks better because it has more big names even people who don't really follow the sport have heard of but anyone who was around too see both reigns and know the context surrounding each name on those perspective resumes know George's is actually superior.

This shit is so ridiculous, haha, I love the "retired when the Robbie's, Rory Macs, Hendrix's and T Woods came around".

In reality none of these guys would have been favorites against GSP and had he not retired when he did at least 2 of them never would have held the belt in the first place and 1 of the other 2 would have never gotten the shot against the guy that wouldn't fight him because they where teammates dominated him.

Basically GSP retiring was a blessing for the division and allowed the title too become the hot potato it has in the 6 years since being past around by guys who can only dream of being as complete a MMAist as GSP was and would have all been praying their saving grace punching power may have allowed them too score that huge upset against the man who's legacy they all wished was theirs. (Which inevitably would have happened at some point but possibly not quite yet had he not retired).

Yeah, thanks for showing me how pointless it is talking too you, obviously the guy with 1 former Champion who got his ass kicked by GSP light and Colby "I got out struck by the guy that doesn't out strike anybody" Covington on his resume is far better than the most dominant Champion in the divisions history who was just as good as him at his biggest strength and far superior in every aspect of the game.

I mean if it was me personally I know I would much rather have Usmans record with it's 3 top 10 wins and 1 loss to a nobody than GSPs with all those title defences, top 5 wins and hall of famers too go along with my 0 unavenged losses.

Jon's wins over DC trump anything GSP has ever done. Win for win, their resumes arent even close.

GSP is better technique for technique. More skilled. But Jon has natural gifts....long but strong with an iron jaw..
 
I still.don't get how some.of you are claiming that Hughes was in his prime when gsp finally beat him. Dude was almost 40. anything close to 40 in ww division is like being an extra in the movie Cocoon.

How can condit Diaz and Fitch and sheilds compare to lyoto, rampage, DC and shogun. How the hell can gsp fans objectively compare the resumes of four all time greats to 4 really good fighters? I'll even give you sheilds as an all time great. And this is coming from.a Jake sheilds condit Diaz and Fitch fan. Im a huge fan of all four. I used to defend Jon Fitch on here when it was open season on him here back in the day.
If we are only talking about level of competition, bones has huge names on his resume and gsp has two bj and Hughes and all four of those wins look weak AF now. Bj was a LW who had balls to move up and not wait for a 40 year old cyclops to challenge and the Hughes wins look pedestrian at best because the guy was almost 40 and clearly done. Is rich franklins win over Liddell heralded as his best win? Cmon this is such revisionist history.

Menjivar is far from a good example of that era. That was GSP's first ever pro fight, in a minor league. You fucking dumbass. GSP's era of domination started a good 5 years after that.
