That's what I'm talking about. This is not some secret. This is openly debated in Jewish media and Netanyahu's political opponents have criticized him many times over this.

Netanyahu allowed money to flow to Hamas for over a decade. Billons. The payments were part of a string of decisions by Israeli political leaders, military officers and intelligence officials — all based on the fundamentally flawed assessment that Hamas was neither interested in nor capable of a large-scale attack.

For years, Israeli intelligence officers even escorted a Qatari official into Gaza, where he doled out money from suitcases filled with millions of dollars.

As far back as December 2012, Mr. Netanyahu told the prominent Israeli journalist Dan Margalit that it was important to keep Hamas strong, as a counterweight to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. Mr. Margalit, in an interview, said that Mr. Netanyahu told him that having two strong rivals, including Hamas, would lessen pressure on him to negotiate toward a Palestinian state.

So stop making excuses for an OBVIOUS BLUNDER by Israel.

So yes, the argument that Israel kills civilians by mistake because it cannot discern Hamas militant from civilian is utter bullshit.

One could also argue that the IDF doesn't know where Hamas is hiding nor cares even, just like they didn't know or care about Hamas planning for 7/10. So the IDF just bomb targets like hospitals, schools, churches, mosques, factories, residential buildings, etc, since what they want is to destroy Gaza, without knowing or caring about who they are killing.

Just calling it “massive slaughter of innocent lives” is in itself not a good faith start.

Israel is fighting a war. A war initiated by Hamas on 10/7. That’s the first fact.

the necessary objective of the war is the eradication of hamas and the infrastructure built for terror and enabled by all the groups entrusted to oversee and protect the people of Gaza. Including UN groups.

hamas in turn fights among their civilians, in civilian spaces. They have no rules of war. The notion of war crimes doesn’t exist to them because they follow no rules and answer to noone.

noone criticizing Israel would allow a group like Hamas to govern next to them. Or accept Hamas governing themselves. They are only there to destroy Israel and ensure Palestinians remain “refugees” until Israel is destroyed. And that’s acceptable to many of you.

War comes with horrors. Urban war comes with more. And urban war against an enemy that has no rules of engagement and makes no effort to differentiate from civilians will come with multiples more. Those are facts.
