Is the hooplah around Khabib really proportionate to his fame?

Does anyone else feel that all this recent reporting, treating every time Dana talks to Khabib like major news or making some ESPN special about The Decision 2.0, is disproportionate to how famous Khabib actually is, and feels kinda forced and ridiculous?

He was the main event of the largest selling ppv of all time. No, not really

According to most metrics he is the 2nd biggest star in the sport and he abruptly retired after arguably his greatest performance. Throw in the fact that he's from an emerging market so Dana is going to be on board with pushing him as well as the media. It's not complicated.

People will point to his fight against Justin not selling well as as an argument against him but will always ignore the fact it was on in the middle of the day And most ppl had no clue about that nore would watch at such timeframe. It still drew over 600k which in this day and age is a great number alone. It it was in prime time in the us the numbers would have been much much higher.

Bro don’t act like he was the one everyone came to see.
Dont act like the money made was more than usual for even Conor because they knew he was in for the asswhuppin of a lifetime

What metric tells you that?

But that may be due to McGregor and their particular relationship, whereas his lastest PPV with Gaethje did not do nearly as well.

How ironic ts talks about khabib receiving unwarranted hype despite being undefeated while you have Conor the clown prancing around the lobby shirtless garnering millions of views despite losing many fights and some very embarrassingly after opening his mouth too much.

All I can say is that Conor's cult of personality has won him some young dumb and impressionable fans. Lol

Some people are forgetting how much of a big deal LeBron’s Decision was. Khabib is small potatoes here in the US compared to Bron. Hell, even on a global scale. So, I don’t think anybody who is a casual fan will care if Khabib returns or not. But people tuned into LeBron’s dog and pony show.
