I lived there for a little bit as a kid. It can get dirty at certain places. I will agree that children are conditioned to clean up after themselves and the society is very polite.

- are zero tolerance on street crime

Immigration? Up until about 3yrs ago, it was borderline impossible to even get a tourist visa for SA. It's only since they've entered the world of sportswashing and getting involved in football (soccer), that they've realised they need to join the Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Qatar party and start promoting tourism - I now have shitloads of 'visit SA' type spam ads online. So fuck knows how hard it was to emigrate there, unless you were some high-ranking oil rig engineer.
