Nah, just that one of the best head coaches of all times, the best TE of all times, the best special Olympian of all times, the best game manager of all times, still amounted to little without a QB.

You’re usually left with a roster that can be competitive enough to scrape together enough wins to maybe make a wild card, but not seriously compete for the division. You eventually start wasting all your talent’s prime and then when they’re getting traded and cut, you can maybe get bad enough to find yourself in a top five pick.

Which you then waste on Nick Chubb instead of Josh Allen and the cycle keeps on going.

True, but having great skill players while having QB's like O'Connell and Minshew will get you nowhere. It's fine for a while but they eventually gotta take a chance on someone. If you remember Mahomo was taking a chance. Many didn't like the pick att, he sat his first year because he wasn't quite ready. Nobody saw what he has done coming, meanwhile the guys that were considered can't miss Watson, Lawrence etc haven't done shit.

Mahomes, while he had shitty footwork and questionable accurate and more easy to spook than a deer in the pocket, had huge upside. How many QBs today are first round pick? All the good ones are. They were first rounders with high upside.

In hindsight sure, but nobody saw Mahomes being Mahomo. People on national sports talk radio/tv didn't like it and couldn't understand trading up so high to take him when Watson was still on the board. Turdbisky and Watson were considered good picks, Mahomoes was very much a gamble/project.
