Getting rid of Monahan is addition by subtraction.
Calgary looks pretty good for the next 2-3 years now. Those contracts will start to bring regret when the players age, but such is life.

I read that it was $7m x 7. That feels a bit low. Anyone think the deal with he Isles fell through and they couldn't get cap space and basically got backed into a corner?

There must be a reason. It's a Pacioretty deal. Here's a 1st rounder, take this salary. Does this mean Monahan is done? If he plays halfway decent, hould be deadline bait. I think this takes the Habs over the cap though.

Fuck, Canada blew every third period.
1st period, double shots and time on attack
2nd, slow down, games get tighter
3rd, wait, forget to forecheck, stop supporting defensemen on break outs, lazy line changes, get out-shot, and hope we did enough in the 1st to win.
The last 3 games of the tournament went this way. And we didn't play 'powerhouse' countries. That was Swiss, the Chechs and Finland.
We got a bit lucky with this gold. We just had too much talent to keep back, mostly with the 3on3 OT.
Coach can't come back imo.
Kent Johnson, McTavish and Stankhoven were my stand-outs players this year.
Sadly, Cossa (Detroit's 1st round goalie pick) only played 1 game and looked shaky. That wasn't fun to watch.
Sebrango for Detroit is a interesting defensemen. Not much athletically but had great poise and awareness, and was a team leader, reminds me of Marc Staal.
Montreal has got a good player with Roy, who was a 5th round pick.
The Ducks are gonna be good soon, and I hate it.
McTavish, Zegras, Drystdale.. and also Zellweger.
All these guys had killer junior tournaments.

Dont forget Mintyukov (+ few dmen drafted 2-3 round last 2 years). Scotty going to develop them to great players

That was a ridiculous sequence from Mctavish. Awful decision that lead to a 3 on 1, gets tripped behind the net and then saves the game by knocking it out of midair on the line.
