News Poirier trains 6 rounds of wrestling with a new guy every round. Is Khabib DONE?

Conor, Johnson, Alquinta, Barboza, DosAnjos are all saying, "Damn...wished I would have done that. Didn't know he was going to be mauling me that badly".

Tuning in to watch this one

No one ever doubted his work ethic or toughness, but he simply won't be able to keep that much of a specialist from wrestling him most of the time. He just has to swing for the fences when he has the chances to do so.

You can see how it happens. Their coach brings in wrestlers. They do well. They gain confidence. Come up with a strategy and then Khabib grabs them and after a minute or two of furious struggling something dies inside them.
Exactly. You cant prepare yourself for what hes going to do to you in the ring because
<PlusJuan>
My thoughts exactly. Just train to ur strengths or like you would for most fights
Exactly. Aldos takedown defense was wicked because he didnt even hesitate to grapple as soon as the takedown came in he defended and got out. Its a dangeorus game to play to try patiently stop somebody so elite at something.

I remember how Diego Corrales was fucking up his training partners left and right before the Floyd fight..............
I don't think his head was right in that fight knowing he was going to prison soon after

Poirier will be the best conditioned fighter Khabib has fought, arguably the best striker

So you're saying he'll be well trained to lie on his back for 30 minutes instead of 25?

This reminds me of frank mir so much. When mir had the second lesnar fight he kept saying how he’s training so much wrestling and even brought in tommy Rowland (multiple time ncaa champ). Mir really thought he was going to close the wrestling gap because he trained a few months in wrestling.

Haha, me too, then he got his flawless record and future great aspirations destroyed in violent brutal fashion by a true legend. One of my favorite performances from Pretty Boy Floyd.

Dustin is an excellent fighter, and will come in fully prepared to the best of his abilities. That said, he will also have to fight better than he has ever fought in order to beat Khabib.

Khabib by UD, 49-46.

Bro, every fighter does that. DP is getting smashed. Conor was rotating with middleweights, Chechnyan beast grapplers, European champion wrestlers, world champ level BJJ black belts - it does not matter. Khabib is going to slice thru a DP like a hot knife thru butter.

Wrestlers? Nah. Hope he prepares with Sambo guys or judokas too, or else he is done.

I'm sticking with Poirier I've always been a huge fan of his. I think its gonna be a brutal fight, but he's gonna get the finish somehow. Dude gets no love

wow i bet Khabib never planned for Dustin training his wrestling. He is surely doomed now

Isn't khabib a sambo master?

Shouldn't Dustin be rolling with sambo fighters?

Does highlight really that very few fighters change that fundamentally when there high level career starts, besides "old dogs" the issue I'd imagine is that you simply can't devote as much time to it when your having to maintain all your other skills and stay in fighting shape.

I think fighting Khabib thinking you can use a "just stand up" game is very dangerous as well, Khabib's UFC career is mostly based on punishing fighters with that mindset IMHO who aren't used to fighting elite grapplers that punish it well.
