even dc agreed that should've been scored as a td

colby 3,4,5

he didn't control Usman for even a second. even if you count it as a TD in the stats (which has no effect on the judging) Colby still lost the round.

in close round a td makes a difference...

I was rooting for Colby and wanted to see him get the first takedown on Usman but I agree with the guys in the truck and disagree with DC.

He doesn't have Usman all the way down and he isn't controlling him. Kamaru gets right back up. It might be a takedown in folkstyle wrestling but this isn't wrestling.

Anyway, UFC takedowns are a flawed statistic because the promotion doesn't have a formal definition of what a "takedown" actually is.

That "takedown" used more energy than it was worth. It's value was to establish the threat, and that's about it. I'm surprised how much interest this has generated on here.

People are so desperate to give something to Colby, it is actually quite pathetic.

The point of counting takedown, is because the person who took his opponent down is now in a position of control.
Colby had no control over Usman.
So regardless if this was a takedown or not, Colby had absolutely no control time and it awards no points to Colby.

It’s not desperation. It’s a pretty legitimate argument to give him the last 3 rounds. The striking exchanges were even in the 3rd and Colby had this takedown.

it is desperation, because this "takedown" was meaningless, since he had no control.
Maybe we should award a point to Usman for standing up so fast???

Besides, the striking exchanges was absolutely not even. Only at the 4th, Colby found himself.

...and let us not talk about the 10-8....

not that much, it doesn't and the criteria supports this. striking is weighed more heavily in rounds with little to no grappling, and vice versa.

And it wasn't close. Usman clearly won it with or without the td.

everybody agrees usman won 1st 2, but after that it was pretty even and with td (it was a td by wrestling standards) colby took that round
