Volkanowski is the most skilled champion we have

Ortega will run through him. Max Holloway has some ways to go in grappling that’s why he was easy to exploit and point fight.
volk basically 50-45’d max in a pure standup match in the first fight lmao, volk didnt even take him down.

Yan is levels above him. But since he's not champ anymore, I guess you are right.

Fair shout. I think Holloway TKO’s him though.

One thing is for sure. Him, Usman, Izzy and Jan are top of the sport for skill.

Conor is the GOAT MMA boxer with Masvidal in 2nd.

Volk still got him in the second fight and kept trying to mix it in the first. Holloway couldnt handle that type of point fighting but Ortega will spark Volk if we’re to try that approach with him,

Lost a lot of fans when he downright refused to fight Holloway after the 2nd fight, which most considered a clear win for Holloway. On the same boat, think he has impressive skills but Holloway exposed him in the 2nd fight and hes been avoiding it since. Can't call yourself an undisputed champ like that.
He won the first fight
Immediate rematch, won the second

Have you ever seen a trilogy take place one after the other where one guy won the first two fights? He didn't even earn the first rematch. A trilogy right away would be fucking ridiculous.

It's amazing how little he gets talked about .. Guys like Francis, Usman, Jan and Petr are very skilled fighters in their own right but if we're talking about complexity Alex has the largest array of skills and techniques in his game.

Stance switching, shifting, striking defense, boxing, calf kicks, body kicks, different entries, different takedowns, combinations, clinch, grappling, everything, he's so complete.

Not a particularly interesting personality but I really hope he gets the recognition he deserves one day. Dude is an MMA machine.

The skill and technique or art of the sport is always going to be seen in the lighter divisions.

Only people who don't know fighting thought this fight was a *clear* win for Holloway (or anyone out of the two).

That fight was very close.

Just because its a close fight doesn't mean there isn't a clear winner. No need to get upset about it. Majority of fighters, media, and fans thought Holloway won the 2nd fight. Poll was conducted and more than 80% of fans said Holloway won while 18 out of 27 media scored it for Holloway. Should've been a win for Holloway and then trilogy matchup would've been immediate. Volk avoided the matchup since and it makes sense why.

It was boxing and not MMA, but it took Juan Manuel Marquez a fourth try to beat Manny Pacquiao. I think Max could pull it off. Would watch the third fight since I thought the first 2 fights were excellent.

Fighting skills, yes. Promotional, not so much. Almost reminiscent of Mighty Mouse.

He exposed him by losing?

I hate this current schtick where you have to beat the champ twice in order to be champ. Volk won the first fight very clearly. It wasn't some flukej flash K.O, controversial split decision, or freak accident. It was close, but had a clear winner, Volk. You could argue robbery on the second fight, but at that point Volk had already won TWICE. A third try for Max after losing twice? It makes it seem like the UFC just runs rematches so they get who they want on top.

Volkan reign will come to a end if he fights max like he did the 2nd time

In terms of pure skill:

1. Yan
2. Volk
3. Usman

Give me a break with this type of bullshit. Volk was saved by the bell, and didn’t have one dominant round in the fight. You’d have to be dangling off Volk’s nutsack to think that was a victory for him.

Neither of those guys have beaten a fighter of Holloway's quality (yet).

Volk has had one title defense that was controversial, while Usman has cleaned out his division. Not comparable in terms of what they’ve done as champions.

By your logic, Matt Serra is better than Volk, and damn near every other fighter in history.
