What Is the number 1 mistake you see among the best in the world?

Volk vs Yair is the only one i can really think of off the top of my head. Prefect antithesis of that is Alves vs Kampmann.
I said that during the fight. "First time I've ever seen a takedown against someone rocked that wasn't stupid"

Underestimating your opponent a la Rockhold

Losing your gameplan and resorting to abysmal fight IQ when it doesn't go your way in the first round and/or getting hit a few times

Starting rap-"careers" and partying "drinking too much red wine" instead of training and focusing on your opponent

Opening restaurants with printed menus, shitty food and chopping your own onions w a machete

Marrying Pornstars

"For your information, there was no Marriage, Fucking Punk, you call that class?"

Probably because the overhand right packs power and many of them have no head movement.

If it works, it works. And no, it's not exclusively because of that. Look at the amount of high-level strikers who get beaten with "looping punches", or referencing the past: how many "technical" strikers got beat by "brawlers".

also see
its fighters who look to fight as if they were wearing boxing/kickboxing gloves, depend too much on a high guard and a jab and are unprepared for big looping shots which can get though it with MMA gloves.
I'm guessing because a lot of fighters spar with boxing gloves and bring in boxing/kickboxing trainers who are used to training for fights involving them.

Height cutting. For example if Carwin hadnt cut so much height, he wouldn't have gassed against Lesnar and would have went home with the belt and 11/10 babes on both arms, just like us Sherdoggers.

Declining a fight The Baldfather really wants
A lot of guys never come back from that

I love when people fight their opponent's strength. Like Jones taking DC down or guys who would willingly go into Maia or Werdum's guard. It's so ballsy and it's impressive as hell when it works out.

...But it's so stupid.

I hated GSP's title run because he always played it so safe, but look at his stats, his resume, and how he went out. He was a very smart, cautious, fighter, was still a PPV star, and is almost uniformly beloved, without the unneccessry risk.
Jones and Fedor were masters at fighting their foes strengths

believing their hype way too much, Usman was an example, he stated he wanted to jump up to 205 after fighting Leon lol

Thinking that by having the belt they are actually the best in the world. Arrogance gets then ko

Having no idea what to do in half guard bottom - to either get up or sweep.

Who’s or what fight stands out to you the most when a fighter did that?

For me if I remember correctly it was werdum hurting Overeem in their second fight then going for a takedown.

That’s the exact one I had in mind.

Roy Nelson did something similar to Overeem near the end of their fight.
