What should Francis Ngannou do next?

I don't feel legacy is as important to him as good health and financial security. He has both of the latter, and also got to live his dream fighting the best boxers around, so he can do whatever he wants really. I am sure he could be good at consulting and PR etc trying to recruit African talent

He's gonna get slept in PFL next too..

Which means, Ngannou was never that good and never deserved the Jones fight.

Stay away from boxing, he just isn’t an elite fighter in that sport. Go back to MMA, get a few more big paycheques and ride into the sunset.

Conor wasn't the best fighter in the world, he jumped up to win the lightweight title against a stylistically good matchup. If he had stayed in MMA he would have lost to Khabib regardless and not gotten the massive Floyd payday. I don't see how any amount of focus leads to him beating Khabib. The guy is just better.

Ngannou is not only probably the best heavyweight in the world but he's fighting in a much weaker division now. Unless his chin is cracked he shouldn't have any issues fighting in the PFL.
Ngannou isn't the best HW in the world either, nor is he anywhere near the biggest draw like Conor was. Yeah he would have lost to Khabib regardless, but he came back to headline the event with the highest PPV buys in history and probably walked away with $30-40 million in PPV bonuses.

That's pretty different from coming back after a brutal KO for a minor league fight against a guy nobody knows that he might not even win for a small fraction of the money.

The issue is that he can lose again in boxing and that purse would be equal to several PFL fights. It might be more worth it to take another 1-2 losses in boxing then retire.

Who is then? Jones? The guy with one fight in the division? Ngannou's the most proven heavyweight in the world and left the UFC with the title.

He made 30 mil in 5 months guy.

He made more fighting Floyd. And his next 3 fights were definitely a lower salary.

He fought one of the top 3 boxers in the world, even Conor didn't do that. No one has. The Joshua fight is what everyone expected the Fury fight to be. That doesn't mean he's suddenly gonna start sucking in MMA. And his opponent is getting 2 million, so what do you think he's getting? No reason for him not to come back for an easy paycheck.

It would be great to see Francis beat Renan for PFL gold...but fighting for relative peanuts in PFL seems like a poor risk/reward scenario. Sure, he is FAR more likely to beat Renan than any ranked HW boxer, but the pay discrepancy is surely *enormous* unless PFL somehow gets the Saudis to foot the bill for his return to MMA.

Francis should take some time off, then consider another HW boxing fight for a bag of cash, and then go from there. He should pray that Usyk beats Fury both times this year (there is rematch clause), because then the Fury rematch is quite likely there...or he can try to go after Wilder in the meantime, who prob sees Francis as a more appealing matchup now that AJ demolished him.

Fight for the PFL belt if he wins it and they plan on another HW tournament then he could go do a boxing match with Wilder while they figure out his next opponent in MMA.

Because he’s a money hungry guy, he’ll go collect on the 2MM at pfl bc that will be the biggest payday available to him

I bet you fat nerds are already saying he should retire because he just lost.
Let's see...

Yeah, you useless sacks of lard are already saying that. You people are as predictable as you're stupid.

Doubt he's going to get any more big boxing paydays after that. So, his only choices are PFL or retire. The Jones fight will not happen with him being under contract with PFL. Dana will never co-promotion with therm.

He should fight Wilder. Stay away from fighting Usyk or an AJ rematch.

I seriously doubt he gets another big payday like that after this performance. They might offer him a million, maybe 2 but he isn’t making 20 million ever again.

Retirement isn't an option. 20 million isn't much when you've got "friends" to pay and a lavish lifestyle. Nigerian Bigfoot over the next 5-10 years.

Francis is turning 38 this year. He's old by every fighting standard. Ngannou should retire now, especially after last night

Not a bad move

He hasn’t been paid that much in boxing and he certainly isn’t now when even Frank’s jock riders realize Fury carried him.
