Hi there, I placed bets on tom breese to beat akhmedov on williamhill. They voided those bets before the event. I had changed my mind anyway about the fight so i was fine with it. But now after the event has finished they have retroactively reinstated those bets. This is just absolutely crazy. They are just giving themselves a freeroll. This doesn't seem like normal behaviour. Is there any course of action I could take? We are talking about $600 bets here. I find it really repulsive.

Sounds like some bs for sure

Did you check that they didnt reinstate the bets just before the event?

Yeah for sure they were not reinstated while the ufc event was going on. I am not 100% sure they didnt reinstate the bets right before the fight started but I have no way to check that. They claim they made an error in voiding the bets and are well in their right to reinstate them again. I find it completely scummy.

The bets were also cancelled like a week before. Not just some late notice cancellation.

I have a prop bet o2.5 which I won and they graded as a lost. The Live chat say they won't regrade the bet, it is final, in order for me to win my prop bet the fight have to go over 3 round. It take a week for them to grade as a win after I file a complain to SBR

So you might want to try the same route as me and make a formal complain at SBR. If you have proof of cancel bet, SBR could put pressure on them.

I don't think they can legally "REINSTATE" bets, can they?

I've NEVER had a bet reinstated.

Yes i know its crazy. they voided all bets days before the event and then after the fight and breese lost they just simply reinstated the bets. I had also used the money of the canceled bets to place other bets. So now I have a negative cash balance.

I cant provide any proof anymore since they simply just graded those bets as a loss now. They confirmed to me by chat that those bets were originally cancelled but I can't find any proof of it anymore in my betting history. I would urge everyone to not use WilliamHill anymore. They can simply not be trusted. I do still have the chat records of course.

Seems like the voided the bet as the fight got rescheduled but then it went through anyway. If they are admitting they cancelled the bets what are their reasons as to not giving you a refund?

They say they made an error in cancelling the bets in the first place. And that they according to their rules are allowed to correct this error even after the fact......

Email them that you plan on publicly posting their position on social media and then start tagging their competition. They would love to point out why people should use them and not Williamhill.

I would repeat the sequence with live chat and email the transcript to show proof William Hill did void the bet than graded as lost. Post it in public SBR to put pressure on them. Bad PR is not worth $600 they took from you.

I have filed a complaint with SBR. I dont think anything will come out of it, but worth a try anyway.

What happens is that bet stands for up to 8 days just in case the fight the fight happens. Last yr I went to Vegas and I bet on a college basketball game that was later cancelled for power outages or something along those lines so I went up to the window to try and get my bet money back and they said you have to wait 8 days in case game is played out out during that time. I also had a parlay liek 3 months ago with ray borg in it that was the only fight that didnt happen so I thought it would go down to a 7 teamer but no they said I have to wait 8 days. to cash my ticket which is now a 7 teamer since the fight never happened so next time I go to Vegas Ill have a 700$ ticket to cash

Yes i get that. But that is not what happened here. They voided the bets and returned my money. The bets were also clearly graded as cancelled. They then after the fight changed their minds and undid the cancellation......

I'm pretty sure that is what actually happened. Your voided bets were single bets while his voided bets were stuck in parlays. With a voided bet stuck in a parlay, they just won't grade the parlay until the 7 or 8 day (or however many days the terms state) period ends. With a voided single bet, there's nothing to be done except return the money to your account. If his voided bets had been single bets instead of parlay legs, the same would have happened to him (money returned to his account but the waiting period is still in effect with a potential reversal).

Yes but would they have paid out if tom breese won? I highly doubt it. They would have just said the bets were cancelled. So this allows williamhill to just be very generous with voiding bets and in case those bets would be losers they can just simply claim they made a mistake in the first place and freeroll your bets. It is also unfair to me, if i would have known those bets were still live i could have potentially hedged it. Also uncancelling a bet before the fight would have been acceptable but doing it after the fight is absurd imo.

I absolutely agree with all of that, and frankly, I’m shocked. Sportsbooks are regulated pretty stringently in the US as compared to offshore books. Each state has its own gaming commission, so you can certainly file a complaint with your state’s gaming commission as well. Have you tried to escalate customer service to supervisor level or higher?

I got 'reverse freeroll' by William Hill too.
The ML Mirko Filipovic vs Gabreiel Ganozaga still available when the fight started. I quickly bet $200 on Gabriel Gonzaga as soon as he got full mount on Cro Cop. Of course Mirko Filipovic came back and win the fight so I lost that $200 bet.

If Gabriel Gonzaga won, it is a void bet since it is post bet on my part! I guess I kinda deserve it, lucky I didn't bet $500 or $1000 on Gabriel Gonzaga when he got full mount.
