I had been on multiple antibiotics.... I just had a hard time breathing out there. I really wasn’t myself, so that wasn’t the Sage you would normally see out there in the Octagon. Even after the first 30 seconds, a minute out there, I couldn’t breath. I felt like my legs were cement. It just wasn’t me out there.

So, I know I’ll be coming back better than ever and I’m still healing up from feeling sick. In a few days I’m going back to the doctor again to try and heal up from all of this.”

“It wasn’t panic, I felt very calm.”
My heart was racing. It felt like breathing through a straw. So, even if it wasn’t the best lock, I was having such a hard time breathing that it was just as tight as it might have been if I was in that position if I wasn’t sick. If that makes sense.”

I did notice he seemed to be having a problem. But that has nothing to do with his ground game which has not improved. He needs to tell his daddy to lay off, and get to Tri-Star.

The kid is 19 and obviously needs some work on his ground game. He's 2-1 in FOUR MONTHS, went up a weight class because he wants to fight and people are giving him shit for this? Just let him move on and grow.

Yeh, as Joe said "And that ladies and gentleman is what's called a quick tap"

Still, he's got a lot of potential. He was doing winning the stand-up.

that statement suggests hes got the brazilian part down; now time to work on the jiu-jitsu

This. I thought he had barberena rocked for a bit and then he went for a takedown... Too bad

is normal.

i'll always be a fan. he's like Doomsday from DC Comics. he evolves and whatever defeated him last won't work the next time.

It seems that the answers he gives reporters about whether he reads any negative comments about him is not entirely true. I hope he keeps it together and comes back mentally strong and ready to go to war. GSP is a guy who struggled mentally for his entire career and was able to achieve heights that most fighters will only dream of.

On a personal note, I'm glad to see the Northgoat threads and Sage bless signatures die.

I thought only Brazilians threw out excuses?

War Sage Silva!

As a person who has breathing disabilities, based on what he described in the Ariel interview, I tend to believe him. I've been training before and I tend to do it without a mouthpiece because having your nose clogged and a big part of your mouth hindered with a mouthpiece, it really does feel like your breathing through a straw, can't imagine what that's like during a high level fight.

Whether a legit excuse or not, time will tell, all I know is that what he's describing definitely correlates with breathing issues I've experienced myself.

Sage was sick/couldn't breathe and still won the 1st round?

Sage Northgoat indeed.

So was it a modified Von Flue or a arm triangle? So it wasn't a blood choke?

Rogan has no idea what he's talking about.

Watch the Gracie breakdown.

If he didnt tire his ass out by going for those half-assed takedowns against the cage all the time, i think he would have won. He had barbarena beat in the standup but faded fast in the second rond. Could be due to the throat shit. Should have won regardless IMO.

joe is an old, bald meatball with a gigantic steroid skull and hands like Gimli, who never competed in mma. so he be like "OMG MY JITS ARE BETTER THAN THAT HOT YOUNG WHITE GUY OMG"

Machida x tito
Machida had a fever in that fight, and still didnt tap from that tight triangle. Roy x mir. Roy had pneumonia, he literally looked like a zombie in the fight

" ow but he is only 19"
So? Michael macdonald looked WAY more impressive when he was 21. His hype is not because of his age. It is because of his looks. And that is pathetic

The average fan the ufc caters to is the scum of the earth
