Yep agreed surprised he didn't go for more but i think he possibly felt WB's strength/tdd and thought he was going to have next to no chance of getting WB to the mat. I think he tried another time but ended up on the bottom. Woodley is defo his most explosive opponent to date so i see where you're coming from. I just think WB is too cute to be caught by someone who has a punchers chance. Over 70 kickbooxing/MMA fights and never KO'd.

If Jake "past his prime" Ellenberger dropped Wonderboy with a right hand just over a year ago, I wouldn't be surprised if Woodley does. Good discussion though!

Don't get me wrong im worried about the right hand but i can't bet on someone with a Hendo esque approach against WB's variety. Gonna be interesting tho only two days to go!

Not a red flag it's how he fights anyone betting him should know that. It's so damn hard to block punches in MMA with the small gloves any how.

I still believe Woodley is the most explosive fighter Wonderboy has faced, and I'm leaning on that being the difference.

Yeah its wbs style for sure but I reckon woodley has been on point with timing & countering, backed up with that power is just brutal and could be nightmares for wb.

I doubt woodley uses wrestling and grappling here, not in a 25 minute fight he would just tire even more. And weidman must have improved wb wrestling and grappling to a better level already.

I may put woodley r1-r2 prop in a hedge parlay play.

Gunshy Rory landed quite a few times on Wonderboy he just has no power

But in rewatching they were mostly glancing shots. Nothing really landed flush like what Jake did on WB.

And Woodley doesn't have much variety in his striking at all. He spams his huge overhand right. It's effective early because he fast when fresh and doesn't necessarily have to land it flush to hurt guys (like a smaller more fit black Roy Nelson LOL).

I really can't see a strong argument for Woodley winning this fight, especially not with leg kicks. Outside of landing a big punch I don't think he has much of a chance. Every fighter is hittable but Wonderboy is one of the hardest to hit. I think he fights smart and outstrikes Woodley at range. He'll get stronger as the fight goes on and the 5 rounds works in his favour.
Hard to counter brutal leg kicks when you're so heavy on your lead leg. You're acting like everyone lands zero strikes on Wonderboy. He can't teleport, they're in a cage.

We haven't really seen anyone try and utilise leg kicks but I definitely think it's something Woodley might focus on. Not to stop him with leg kicks obviously, that's stupid, but they can slow Wonderboy down and make it harder to bounce around, thus making him more susceptible to being cut off and eating a hard shot.

^^ not sure Wwodley knows about leg kicks....

He does, he has good ones. Problem is he doesn't know how to effectively set them up, and I seriously doubt he learns to at a level to use them vs WB

Exactly this he kinda firebombs them WB is going to move out of the way of that shit. Woodley is not a fluid enough striker to disguise them behind strikes.

Does anyone think the change of camp could be an issue for JJ? I realize ATT could be an upgrade for her long term but I think it's worth considering that there may be an adjustment period.

I still favor JJ to win, but right now I'm on KK decision and split decision small.

EDIT: It's not apples to apples, but after what we just saw from RDA after leaving Kings it may be a factor. In a fight that I'm already expecting to be close, it's a slight confidence increase in KK for me.

yes, i'm not sure why she made this change.. seemed like things were going pretty smoothly

i guess she just wanted to be in the US full time for her career, so might as well go to a good team?

And who has Woodley brutalised with his leg kicks? and don't say Condit. I highly doubt Woodley's leg kicks will be a significant factor in this fight. This fight is really very simple to call. Woodley will be dangerous and expolsive early, maybe he can even get some takedowns but I doubt it. But outside of landing a hard right hand he doesn't have much going for him.

The current Wonderboy doesn't really have any holes in his game that I can see. His performances as of late are almost flawless. He's the best striker in the division and he's a puzzle that has not been solved. There is still value on Wonderboy at -200. People are overestimating Woodley's ability to win this fight. One guy is clearly better on the feet and has a much more likely path to victory and the other guy has a punchers chance. There are better dogs on this card.

ok I stand corrected on the leg kicks but as you say I really can't imagine him using them effectively against a more fluid WB.

Sorry but you're overrating Wonderboy. He's great but he's not the GOAT ffs. You're putting too much stock into him beating the ghost of Hendricks and a gunshy Rory. One's talking about retirement, the other is now in Bellator

His most impressive wins are over Whittaker and Cote. He's been dropped by Ellenberger and he's been hit by everyone. He's nowhere near as elusive as someone like Cruz

Sounds that way:

"This may sound selfish, but I had to think of myself," Jedrzejczyk said. "I care about eating well, getting enough sleeping, and being ready to workout, because this will all matter on the day of the fight. I believe now I've found the right place, and I have arranged it all myself. When preparing for a fight, I must be selfish. I have to know that I will be able to cope physically and mentally.

"I feel like I'm on a mission now. I miss my loved ones from Olsztyn in Poland, but I have to do what's best for me to make sure I win."

She went on to explain that while she had no particular problems with her former gym, the culture around MMA in the US is just much bigger - and perhaps better able to provide the kind of championship regimen Jedrzejczyk is looking for.

Yeah he totally didnt fuck Condit up with them

To be fair Condit's leg was injured during a takedown and Woodley finished the job with a kick IIRC. But I do agree with you that he does have some brutal leg kicks in his arsenal.

Sounds good to me, like she has a genuine passion to just be the best.

Loyalty in MMA is stupid, go to a good gym ffs. Don't be like Conor and stick with a mediocre coach like Kavanagh, or a more extreme case, don't be like Ronda and be stuck with Lord Edmund

Conor never shown good leg kicks until he used his brain and realised they'd be useful against a guy who's heavy on his lead leg, and be butchered Diaz in the 2nd fight with them and it made him more open to land shots

Wonderboy is the best WW in the world. Like I said Woodley has a punchers chance and maybe he can get a TD or two early but that is it. Wonderboy is probably going to clown him on the feet and finish him. I don't know how people are struggling with this one, it's honestly one of the easiest fights to call on the card.

You're right he totally didn't, Condit injured his knee on a TD by Woodley, the leg kick was just the finishing touch, that fight was over as soon as his knee gave out.
