Probably a significantly heavier fine. I might not like HOA’s but at the end of the day they serve their purpose and protect your investment and keep the neighborhood value up. I despise living in the suburbs but I knew where I started wasn’t where I was going to finish so I went with a safe investment for the time being and hopefully one day sell for a higher profit and get RSR Ranch
 
my hoa fees are $300/year. not bad compared to others but fuck that shit

Yeah, I don't get it either. When we gave our realtor our list of wants for a house... number 1 on the list was... NO HOA fees. We're buying a single family house so that shouldn't be that big of a deal, but it definitely eliminates some cookie cutter subdivisions.
 
I got a warning letter for having a weed over 12" tall in my side rocks. It was one, single weed in the rocks. They even took a picture and sent it to me.

I'd never buy a property with HOAs. I would even let them in the house, you don't have to legally and really could call the police if they don't leave.

HOAs are not so bad. It all depends on the HOA. Never had a problem with them. The ones in the subdivision I live in are reasonable. HOAs can keep a neighborhood looking decent.
 
Some HOA's are good. They keep people from doing shit that lowers your property value.
