So how about them HOAs

HoA neighborhoods keep the riffraff away.

HOAs suck. I live in a condo, so I can't avoid them not but I loathe mine.

You mean people the people that buy? Riffraff can't afford houses out here.

Fuck homeowners associations.

Already lived this, I lived with my buddy in Anaheim Hills, I had people over one night and we had two cars in the driveway, when the party was over they try leaving and they both got towed, not to mention the HOA fee is around $600.
$600 and for what? You don't need snow removal... did they even have a lawn to landscape? Real grass is rare out here as you know.

I'd never buy a property with HOAs. I would even let them in the house, you don't have to legally and really could call the police if they don't leave.

Eastlake residents upset over HOA garage parking rule
If residents have a two-car garage, two cars would need to take up the two spots in the garage before residents can park in the driveway or on the street.

Think about that, pay a bunch of money to have someone tell you how to live.
My hoa doesnt allow overnight street parking. Fuck house renters too...

When I was living in Chicago there were condo buildings that had $400-450 HOA fees. These were brand new units too.

My subdivision is $144/year. That covers Snow Removal, Bike Trails and Street Maintenance.
Their pretty lenient and I haven’t had any issue.
At 400-450/month I would hope comes with quite the perks.

Or the counter to this would be a person in a HOA community that's very laid back on neighborhood code enforcement. For example, it gets fucking old driving through my subdivision to-and-from work and having to dart around parked cars in the street when people have adequate space in their garage/drive way.

$144 a year isn't terrible, at least you can see what they're doing with that too.

The HOA in the OP didn't even want people parking on their own driveway unless the garage was full.

And apparently this HoA racket

And @Javelina saying the price rises every single year. Its extortion in disguise, is what it seems like to me.

That’s why you get a letter each year if you want to argue your property value cause they raise that shit often. They are crooks but you can check them.

You can't use your garage as a storage area for equipment. Its for cars only. Had one of those busybees try to take the inside of the garage but I kept it closed all the time

Is there anything stopping people in a neighborhood from getting together and creating their own HoA type deal? Where they all pitch in to some community projects? I like the idea of it

They shouldn't be able to tell you want to do inside of your home anyway. You don't have to let them in your house either.
