UFC on ESPN+ 27 Benavidez vs Figueiredo

I went for the cheap seats so I probably won't get a chance but I'll keep an eye out, I'll at least try to snap a few pictures
Lol. Have fun, bring cotton, and be sure to pop your ears on the way up..bring binocs

Brady said in an interview that he busted his right hand up 4 weeks out from his debut against McGee FWIW. Prob why he only threw his left hand.

Ha hopefully I'll get by without an oxygen tank. Cheapest tickets I could find. Looks like I'll be in 108 to the right of the media look for the goofy mick in the green Felder shirt and paddy hat lol.
Any do's and don't you know of? So far my supply list includes pocket flask.

Mister @Rebel_LioN what do You think ?
Cruz
Pena
Dawson
Ankalaev
75$ to win around 240$

I don’t hate the picks but too much juice here.

Not a huge fan of paying -280 for Pena. That Garcia guy looks likes he comes to fight.

Cutelaba could make it tough. Ankalaev -230 too much.

Maybe Cruz does win but he’s so willing to grapple his opponents despite having a reach/height advantage. Other guy doesn’t have much striking.

Dawson is an easy pick though.

Nah dont overthink it. Just go and have fun. I enjoyed it live more than I thought I would. The energy is pretty cool especially the support for home town fighters.

I finally pulled the trigger on Brady. I don't feel strongly about it, but I just question how well Naurdiev handles relentless pressure. I realize Chance grapplefucked him, but I think part of it was just Chance always moving forward and not trying to make it a very calculated fight. Even if that theory isn't correct, I think the fight is a toss up. If the theory is correct, I definitely favor Brady.

I’m on Allen, Dawson, Peña and Ankalaev.
Not sure who I’m picking in the main event just yet.

I think Ion has a chance in round 1 to take Magomed out because he comes out fast looking to end it quickly. Magomed has shown he can take a shot but that’s not a good thing. Going small on Magomed with a round 1 Ion KO to hedge

Yes Naurdiev has shown several instances where he folds under pressure. That is Bradys game. Having said that Naurdiev is very talented but my money is also on Brady as a dog

Anyone else more confident Brendan Allen can get it done versus a guy with mental health/confidence issues, an injury that forced a long layoff as well as personal issues that caused him to withdraw from a fight the day before?

Allen has a newborn and seems highly confident and motivated. Breese doesn’t impress me much either and I feel like Allen’s submission skills are a real threat for Breese here.

I’m actually leaning towards that way too, small bet. Naurdiev had tough fights with both Prazeres and Rencounter. And before that, with another journeyman Brazilian in ACB. All of them had success in grappling with Naurdiev and Brady is a Gracie black belt with good hands. Further noted that I mentioned Brady said in an interview that he didn’t throw his right hand against McGee cuz he had ligament damage.

I also can’t imagine Naurdiev’s wrestling being a huge factor here because Brady is good on the ground. While opposite, Naurdiev probably doesn’t want to be on bottom against Brady.

I just don’t trust Henri Hooft grapplers other than Usman. A lot of them have major brain farts in that department. See Michael Johnson, Rumble, countless others.

My opinion is based off a hunch so I can’t fully commit but I’m on board with this play too.

Here is a fun clip, both ME fighters subbing Tim Elliot with the same type of choke. The Fig stoppage seemed odd, clear tap by Elliot and Fig is still hanging on even after the ref trys to separate them, seems like he really wanted to put Tim out.

Not sure how anyone could be confident in/back Breese.

Haven't dug in on Breese but I like dog Allen for the fight for your money quality
Hell his fight name is "All In"

Brady lost to McGee. He's supposed to have legendy cardio but he slowed after a round in his first UFC fight after having a great gas tank in untested organisations... Does he pressure? Who did he pressure?

Glad someone said it, looked more like he was the one being pressured in the last half of the fight.

Are we rewriting history today?

Note- potential for wonky officiating and judging in Norfolk, Virginia this Saturday. The athletic commission uses old rules and has some quirks in the guidelines for scoring rounds:

https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2020/2/...dibly-short-on-pre-fight-medicals-ufc-norfolk
Judges shall use a sliding scale and recognize the length of the time the contestants are either standing or on the ground as follows.

1. If the contestant spent a majority of a round on the canvas, the effective grappling is weighed first and effective striking second.

2. If the contestant spent a majority of a round standing, the effective striking is weighed first and effective grappling is second.

3. If a round ends with relatively even amount of standing and canvas fighting, striking and grappling are weighed equally.
Actually makes sense
