What music do white kids listen to nowadays?

I was a teen in the late 90s/early 00s and by then mainstream rock was already going out of style. I was part of a group of rock/metal/goth/punk guys, and we definitely noticed those genres shrinking rapidly.
I thought that was the limp bizkit era

They enjoy the harmonious musical stylings of Celion dion.

Like this comment if you're reading this in 2021.

Also we didn't really care for limp bizkit lmao

Is rap music the most popular form of music among white kids today? Most white teens that I've come across seem to actually like rap music over rock or anything else

This is an extremely disturbing trend. When I grew up it was all rock and roll! And now, due to social engineering all we hear is this crap. I banned rap in my house. My kids hear rock and roll or nothing.

It's sad to think there are a lot of people out there who think that the rock and metal industry is dead. It isn't and there a lot of really amazing bands making killer music. King Buffalo being one of them. Their album Dead Star from last year is amazing

No one is saying there aren't active bands making great music. That's not why rock is dead.

Rock is dead in the sense that it lacks a mainstream audience and therefore cultural relevance.

I follow music, I'm personally into lots of rock and metal acts.

But I understand the general public does not care about them. It's a niche interest.

Look at the video you posted - 60,000 views. The rapper Lil Pump gets 300 million views. There's no comparison.

There was a time when rock culture was popular culture, youth culture. That time is gone.

lol, one of the reasons rock is dead

EDM, duh.

no need for real instruments or a good voice anymore. Now anyone can be a star with just a laptop and a soundcloud.

The last few vinyls my 20-year-old bought:

Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
Beastie Boys - Check Your Head
LCD Soundsystem - American Dream
MF Doom - mmm.. food
MF Doom - Madvillainy
Deltron3030

He's big into King Gizzard and Black Moth Super Rainbow too.

So, rap/hip-hop especially underground stuff and neo-psychedelic/experimental/ecclectic/art rock.
Good taste! Paul's Boutique is my all time favorite album. You should get him a copy of "The Beastie Boys Book. Great read, especially about the timeframe of them recording that album.

The blackest of music

I doubt it,but I honestly dont pay attention to what is popular these days at ALL.
Country that’s not “Bro Country” is definitely more popular than rock. Florida Georgia Line, and Old Town Road were incredibly popular recently. Rock music hasn’t been popular since the last big emo bands left.

I’ll take my flak and just come out and say MCR’s Welcome To The Black Parade is a genuinely good album, then Fall Out Boy turned pop, Panic At The Disco turned pop, Falling In Reverse turned rap, Escape The Fate became irrelevant, 30 Seconds To Mars stopped.

There was a few alternative rock and grunge holdovers like Smashing Pumpkins, and Foo Fighters but they’re getting softer and softer.

Rock is not that popular anymore.

Here in Russia kids listen to degenerate mumble rap made by wiggers. One of the most popular artists uses recordings of his farts to make beats.
That shit becoming mainstream was some of the worst things happening to music.

The Nu Metal craze was from the mid to late 90’s and early 2000’s. You had bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn, Slipknot(thought they aren’t rapping they’re not quite hard enough to be Deathcore not technical enough to be Djent, or progressive enough to be Prog) Papa Roach, Coal Chamber, Powerman 5000, Crazy Town, Drowning Pool, Mudvayne, Alien Ant Farm, and STEMM.

Face the pain Sherbro <{JustBleed}>

Rap is trash.

I've noticed kids listening to alot more traditional music now a days like bluegrass, folk, Irish folk, and Nordic folk music.

These kids now a days will be way more interesting than the cucks that grew up behind me listening to rap and other homosexual music.

Yea I kinda remember it being more popular than rap at that point, but then once eminem came onto the scene, rap became the dominant genre among young ppl by the early to mid 2000s
