ali is the greatest all around athlete when you are talking about worldwide influence. strictly on achievement, he is the weakest link here.

brady is no doubt the goat qb and the greatest winner. however, he is probably not considered the greatest football player of all time. and if he is, it is definitely debatable.

jordan is basically the name you say when you ask who is the greatest of a sport. as in, "who is the michael jordan of so and so sport?" but now you can argue lebron passed him (i disagree).

hockey is not as popular, but if you are going on purely who is head and shoulders over the rest in their sport, it is hands down gretzky. there is no argument that he is the best hockey player ever. his stats are so far beyond those of others that no matter how hard you try, you cant make an argument for anyone else. he has more points from assists alone than anyone else has in combined points.

its gretzky pretty easily

Well said

Brady. He has proven he can win as an unknown kid with little experience and a garbage team, to win when he has experience. To come back from large deficits and never give up. And he has proven he can win when his age says he shouldn’t. Gretzky and Jordan won when they were supposed to. Ali won the title three time and at an older age. He is in the discussion.

Brady because listen to NFL players talk about him. They all gush. All of them.

This is Gretzky. He may only have the four cups but that was largely due to Pete’s greedy ass fuckin up a dynasty. He is so far ahead in single achievements that this isn’t even a discussion for true sports fans

Of those 4 the GOAT is Gretzky, for sure. His career accomplishments are too great for the others to really even come close.

I will say, though, that imo Jordan is the only one of the 4 who is the GOAT of his sport career wise and probably also the best player ever in his sport gauged by peak ability on his best night.

(In case anyone is curious, Mario Lemiuex was better than Gretzky on a per game basis)

Doesn't gretzky have the best four single seasons in nhl history?

I always find it funny having Brady in the goat athlete category because he’s as athletic as an average dude. I voted Jordon.

Super Mario missed two months due to cancer and then came back to lead his team to 15 consecutive wins and outscore the rest of the league. He was on pace to match Gretzky's 215 point season before having to sit out. After coming back from cancer treatment, he finished the season with 160 points (top in the league) in just 60 games. That's more points per game than Gretzky's best season. His career was injury plagued and he played fewer seasons. It came out to something like 500 fewer games. Gretzky also had a stronger supporting cast for most of their careers.

Gretzky is definitely the GOAT hockey player and you could argue that he's also the best ever, but for one game I'll take Lemieux.

I think Lemieux is the greatest offensive player that ever lived in hockey. He would have broken all Gretzky records if he had a more healthier career.

I agree that he is the best offensive player ever, but I think it's a stretch to claim he'd have broken Gretzky's records. There is a gaping chasm between staying healthy and maintaining the level that Gretzky did for 20 years.

True, he may not have broken his record even he played the same amount of games as Gretzky. But he would be certainly be in second place.

Mike Bossy could have made a good run for all-time most goals if he didn't retire young. Who knows maybe Ovechkin can break Gretzky goals record but I doubt it.

Right now he needs 3 seasons with 61 goals each season. 35 years old, he will do it i reckon. Despite having a physical style of play, he is not showing signs of slowing down. Who knows these breaks due to covid might give him the longevity he needs to do it?
