People tend to underrate DC because he couldn’t beat Jones. DC is still one of the best fighters of all time and could dominate 99% of anyone from any era.

Prime DC could take anyone down at will (other than maybe Jon Jones) and had very good kickboxing and a solid chin as well. I don't see much of a path to victory for Jan in that fight (although he's pretty good at surprising me...). I'm sure he would make it competitive though.

Cormier has one-punch power at HW. At 205, it goes away. His only finish on the feet there is the coffee man.

He's pretty strong but so was DC, hell I've even think Prime DC was stronger.
If Gus was able to outwrestle him, think DC would do as well. Then again, Jan has vicious body kicks and DC doesn't react too well to those. Cormier would still be a big favorite.

Prime DC was very athletic and agile. As Jones said he was a special athlete

I reckon his physical prime was during his wrestling career. Literally if people saw how he looked and wrestled back then it is a night and say difference to what we saw in his MMA career.

There's a reason why he moved on from wrestling after all those years. People generally move on because they feel they can no longer compete at the highest level and their body is past its prime and can no longer beat their career best results

Meanwhile Daniels mediocre top game couldnt get past 44yo grandpa post leg bureak Andersons half guard and lockdown the whole fight and had a pathetic lay and pray performance after getting hurt by a body kick

Yup, Gus, Stipe and Rumble before he gassed. Its just Rumble has some of the worst cardio in MMA so he got him down easier late.

DC/Bones stans love to pretend DC was this near unbeatable dude in his purime but he had alot of holes in his game particularly defensively

He learned a lot from this fight so he is definitely not the same fighter. They even trained together before Jan fight with Jacare. Jan is still improving and each fight after Thiago loss gave him more good experience and chance to work on his flaws. I know that Santos isn't the same anymore but even with his knees fully working it would be much different fight if they would square again. Last time it was 1-1 going to round 3 so if Jan wouldn't go full Garbrandt he could possibly win the decision. Currently as more confident and patient fighter he would be favorite against 2019 Santos imo.
