My guess is that he got disillusioned through out the Obama years like many Democrats did and just decided not to participate in 2016. But during the Trump presidency the Dems/Libs were so bad and beyond the pale that he decided to vote for Trump in 2020. Good for him.

Voted Obama twice but felt later on that he was doing things more to be popular than to be a good leader. Some things he signed I though were terrible. Also thought he was seemed weak during global outings.

I skipped the Trump/Clinton ticket because I didn't think Trump was qualified and I didn't think Clinton was right for it nor did I believe in her policies.

Was walking into a King Soopers a few weeks ago. As i was walking from my car i passed some Duck Dynasty looking dude not wearing a mask. He was looking at me grinning ear to ear and gave me a very enthusiastic "good morning!" as I passed him. Keep in my Im a random black dude. So I was a little thrown off because the enthusiasm seemed kind of unnatural. But as I passed him I thought to myself "hmm, this guy doesn't have a mask on"...then I thought "oh crap neither do I, forgot it in the car".

Thats when it dawned on me. He was so friendly and enthusiastic toward me because he thought I was a fellow anti-mask bro about to buck the system like he just did. Well, when i went back and got my mask I could just see the disgust and disappointment on his face as I passed by him again. Bothered me for a good ten minutes. Found myself doing some soul searching in the cereal isle.

Ultimately Ive come this conclusion. I am 1000% against this covid tyranny and see it as one big scheme to put the free world fully under international authoritarian control. But I also feel like we have to be smart about the battles we pick and fight. I don't think ignoring mask policies from private businesses or going viral fighting with Karen's in a grocery store will do us any good.

Looking back on why I voted for Obama, my views were similar. For most of my adult life, I thought of myself as a conservative democrat. I was also new to the voting and was drawn into it seriously because Obama was black. I voted Obama because at the time I considered myself to be a conservative democrat and Obama was black.

During Obamas last term, I started to notice some things about him that I did not like. I am a no non-sense American. I am an unapologetic American. I felt like Obama was too haste in his compliance with other world leaders though it did not suit America. Felt like he gave off a weak presence at times.
When he came to his policies I found that they were not inline with my views. Not going to get into much into policies but the transgenders bills he signed smelled of shit and his need to be popular.

Why I voted for Trump in 2020 and not 2016?
You say there was Republican interference. I disregard that claim as media horseshit. 2016 I did not feel he was qualified. Plain and simply.
The next four years really opened my eyes a lot.
Opened my eyes with the media, Hollywood and certain other companies.
Trump was not meant to get elected. When he did, I saw peoples' true colors and it was ugly.
Trump showed himself to be a fighter. He stood of to biased news and their talking heads. He didn't take the narrative they had for him.

Voting for him was more than just voting for a man, it was voting against what our society as become.

You say that he broke promises. I disagree. Trump did more of what he said he was going to do than any president is recent memory.
