I disagree about American History X and White Chicks.

The former, because racism stories are okay as long as they show redemption, it wasn't like the movie was makking fun at minority groups.

The latter because it is making fun of white women, and you're allowed to make fun of the dominant/power group. I mean, you can make fun of other groups too but the name can't be as blatant... "Black Chicks" would never pass, you'd have to name it something else but could still include stereotypes... *cough* Girl's Trip *cough*

I don’t think white chicks would be canceled because of race, but would be canceled by the trans community

Django Unchained?

Ah, I see. Possibly. Although technically they draw a distinction between trans and drag (what the Wayans were doing) but no one wants to piss off the LGBT community.

Anything that had white washing wouldn’t get made today…hollywood did a full 180 and is now black washing.

One of the bigger white washing was Gods of Egypt…which came out in 2016.

Valid thread but slightly off base with the movie choices. PC and woke culture just doesn't want anything that shows anyone who isn't white in a negative light, and at the same time making sure anyone who is white is less likely to be given a positive role and more likely to be portrayed as either evil or a dunderhead.

And of course, they re-write history to blame white males for all ills while denying them credit for anything. And naturally all gays are now like super heroes.

There are exceptions of course but this is the gist of modern Hollywood. Airheads love the new stuff and dutifully and idiotically keep supporting this complete trash.

I always thought whitewashing was cringe. Prince of Persia for example. But I never thought the answer would be just letting the pendulum swing in the other direction. I like my stories rooted in realism.

Christ, more ree'ing about "TEH SJWWWWWZ ARE RUINING MUH MOVIES!". This shit is getting old.

Sure, Blazing Saddles might not get greenlit today, but mostly because it isn't nearly as transgressive now as it was when it was made. On the other hand, something like Jojo Rabbit absolutely wouldn't have been made 40 years ago.

Kindergarten Cop?

RDJ didn't go blackface, a character he was portraying in the film went blackface. Throughout the film he was portraying a white guy the entire time.
That wouldn't matter. Nuance and context are lost on the PC outrage mob.

I think most of you got it all wrong. The stuff that wouldn't get greenlit would be stuff considered rape now says but was treated as comedy in the past. In Revenge of the Nerds, a nerd dressed up as Darth vader pretends to be a girl's bf and has sex with her. Trickster rape sex. In Meet the Applegates, there is a full on rape scene and it is treated as a joke. I am sure Porky's and the like had similar "jokes" that wouldn't be laughed at nowdays. Stuff like that would just fall flat nowdays.

Movies will always be made if there is someone to fund it lol

<PlusJuan> I'd throw Sixteen Candles in that mix.

Football Jock/Hunk awards his blackout drunk cheerleader/prom queen to a virginish nerd after a night of drinking and partying. She wakes up, the nerd admits to sleeping with her and she's pretty much okay with it

Big Trouble Little China full on stereo types and White Man Savior to enslaved Asians .

Showdown in Little Tokyo, pretty much same as above but with Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee buddy cop movie

Rising Sun with Wesley Snipes and Sean Connery featuring GR Kari Takanaka More Asian Stero types

American Ninja w David Dudikof White man Savior

shallow Hal Fat shaming

Leprechaun In The Hood
