Economy Extra Unemployment ending finally

Good people need to get their asses back to work. My buddy runs a business that can’t hire people even if they wanted to, and they’re offering a few dollars more an hour than minimum wage, for jobs that require no education and aren’t really physically taxing. While unemployment is good in theory, people abused the hell out of it. I know people that worked under the table while technically unemployed and made like 10-20k thanks to that.
This is exactly what I mean. There are tons of jobs out there now but noone wants to take em when the government is handing out free money.

"What the pandemic showed us is the minimum wage needs to be raised! The ship has sailed and even $15 hr isn't enough to support a family of four, and own a home. It needs to be $25 hr now."

I've been seeing alot of these kind of posts in the lead up to today.

yeah, people are retards. they seem to think that if everyone has more money, they're sticking it to the rich. no comprehension that shit's relative.

meanwhile, the rich have assets that gain relative to a weak dollar/inflation... so those screwed are the poorer people without real estate/stock/etc - ie: the same idiots that want these dumb minimum wage increases. all this shit does is wreck the dollar's purchasing power and screw over small businesses even moreso (short-term, since there's a ramp). why lefties hate small businesses is kinda astounding.

(rant) it's always pissed me off how these fuckhead lefties pretend to hate "wall street" and then they want cities locked down, which destroys main street/sm biz, and since people still need to buy stuff, amazon/costco/target/etc and etc reap the rewards. and then it's bullshit narratives like the above and etc.

Now that the riots have done their job they wanted and gotten democrats put into power, they are finally toning down the extra unemployment bennies that were keeping Floyd rioters and antifa on the street. Maybe they will go back to getting real jobs now, or back to their mothers basements.

This was decided back when the last relief package In January/ February went through. Manchin kept it to September and without him, it likely would’ve had a longer extension. Still possible they could extend it with reconciliation again but I doubt that.

Is this why you're all in favor of drastically increasing taxes on old banking families (and the rest of the plutocrat class) in order to pay for these pandemic-related subsidies without as much borrowing?

{<jordan}

How does your question square up with his post?

If the banking families are the ones controlling the government how would you tax them? They can bribe politicians to get them to do whatever the fuck they want. You can be in favor of whatever the hell you want, that doesn't magically give you the capability to do that.

It's odd how the right-wing mind works...

You can resent blue collar folks for getting chump change unemployment benefits and it's totally kosher. But if someone expresses resentment towards a billionaire for the size of his house(s) the critic is automatically classified a pathetic, jealous loser.
The billlionaire created wealth. Dem voting benefit parasites consume the fruits of the labor of others while contributing only violence and unrest.

As for the unemployment, those funds are addictive. For the people that actually lost their jobs due to the pandemic, they are crucial, but with almost twice the number of available jobs as there are unemployed from the pandemic, it’s time to get of your asses and work. There is an adjustment period when you first go back to work and it sucks, but it’s time to adult

That time was 6 months ago but whatever. Maybe businesses will be able to operate soon

yeah it's just intellectual dishonesty based on jealousy imo. dope avatar I had Ultraman for Super Nintendo

yes it is unless you apply fraudulently

<TrumpWrong1>

you could have been unemployed prior/this whole time and can even NOW file for benefits.

there's even an option to select that you couldn't find a job because of covid. it's as if the PUA changed things, or something.

Yes but ignorant people like yourself cant see other people's perspective because you cant fathom what it's like to be in their position where they can't afford to work, cause they don't have enough money to get into that spot, that's how it works on this planet, governments only give people who don't have jobs enough money to eat and pay rent that's it. Not enough money to afford a drivers licence, and a car to go to work and money for lunch etc.

So you know people who can't find people to hire....but you also know ppl working supe sick jobs under the table?
Maybe some people are just stealing and you're also witnessing inflation?

People don't want to work shit jobs for low pay while getting exposed to covid.

The whole point of working lesser paid jobs for most people is job security, exchanging a few dollars an hour for stability. By being unceremoniously fired the second things got difficult, a lot of employees have realized their "secure job" isn't so secure and they're better off making more money on their own or going back to the drawing board e.g. schooling. Good on them and I hope the unemployment benefits gave them the cushion needed to say fuck you to their previous employers forever.

<BidenShutIt>

yeah, the $30 or whatever every 4 years or whatever for a driver's license is a real impediment to getting a job.

I know people who own small businesses that are trying to hire competent workers for 18-20 an hour full time. They’re having a hard time hiring people because nobody is applying. And when I say small businesses I mean they’re not working with more than a dozen people at a time and all their workers are vaccinated. So acting like getting a job automatically puts you in some extreme Covid environment is a hilarious exaggeration.

And yes, I know people that continued to work privately while their work was shut down. A good example is some girls I know who do hair. Their salons shut down so they were able to file for unemployment, but in the mean time they just had clients come to their homes.

Regardless, they’re both negative situations and I’m hoping both of these scenarios come to an end with this.

Backing your way into realizing that small businesses are getting steamrolled by big businesses and unless they overpay or have a cultural draw are not gonna win the economies of scale game against a globalizing big biz world.

I don’t disagree with you, I’m just saying this sucks for small businesses and hope it gets better since more people will be looking for work now. I don’t give a shit if Walmart or McDonald’s can’t find employees lol.

I was unemployed after recently quitting a job I hated and I looked everyday and it was nothing but shit jobs, so I get that, but nothing I said was untrue. People get addicted to getting free money and in some cases, it is more than they would make at some jobs.
