International Taliban officially announce new government, invites world powers

- New government has been announced and the PM name is Mullah Hassan Akhund.
- China, Russia, Turkey, Qatar, Iran and Pakistan has been invited in the ceremony.

The Taliban has begun to fill government positions following its successful conquest of Afghanistan. Among the names are people still on the UN Security Council sanction list and a minister with a $5-million US bounty on his head.

Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, a co-founder and head of the Taliban’s leadership council, was named acting Prime Minister of Afghanistan on Tuesday, with other senior Taliban leaders approving his nomination. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, considered the militant group’s de-facto leader, was named Deputy Prime Minister, according to a Taliban spokesman.

The Taliban on Monday gave an early glimpse of its foreign policy and geopolitical alignment as it invited Russia, China, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and Qatar to attend an event on its looming government formation.

According to an Al Jazeera report, the Taliban invited these countries. The report cited a source saying the necessary procedures for the announcement of the new cabinet had been completed.
